Are we changing the Ready For Delivery (RFD) Scanning in Deliveries?

When scanning the RFD scan on our Tracked products, this sends a message the customer letting them know the item is in the Delivery office and will be expected to be delivered on that day.

Unfortunately, due to the current limitations and absence levels in our operation, some parcels receiving the RFD scan are not being delivered on the day they are scanned. In order to make sure our customers receive the correct messages the following changes should be made to the usual indoor scanning process for Delivery Offices:
• Do not RFD scan your Tracked Parcels as they arrive in the DO
•Only Scan Tracked Parcels that you can commit to deliver the same day
• It is advised to do the RFD Scan on Tracked Parcels once you have prepared your delivery and are sure the item will be delivered that day
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

This hasn't changed.

So why are you doing it, if you're doing it?
Sound like a school teacher or a screw but would of thought certain areas/DO's are causing a s**t load of problems for customers, customer services, and OUR customer forum.

Your item was delivered on 05-03-2021.

Never changed in our office, tracked starts getting scanned at 1.30am, and takes 7-8 hours to finish with 5-6 people.

Postman your point is noted, however our tracked are scanned as ready for delivery at a large town DO
as due to be delivered by them, however they are actually then sent out to us (an SPDO) where they
should be scanned again by us for delivery if we believe (as per the COVID SOP) we can deliver them.

The customer often doesn't care/know the difference between a delivery by us or the town DO,
they just expect it to arrive as soon as they see that 'Will be delivered' notification whether
it's from the town DO or SPDO.

The problem is exacerbated when items are missorted at the town DO and we get tracked for other SPDO's
in the vicinity (especially if the address does not include the town/village name and they've all got
Main Street's/High Street's).

Thus confusion for the customer who hasn't got a clue where their parcel is or why it hasn't arrived.

Managers have also reminded us to scan the tracked indoor as this gives us an indication of change of delivery date requests.

Been doing it since the process changed. However, this is not how it was sold to us by management (some waffle that I've long since forgotten) even though it was clearly to sidestep that very issue.
Any Questions?
Yeah, how do I get out of this chickenshit outfit?

We have a squad of people scanning tracked RFD every morning. Without doing that, there would be little for them to do.
If they don't scan them as RFD at that point, who will do it then?
The part time OPG who comes in to find their frame only about 70% sorted? It's not as if they don't have plenty of other things to do.

Not a chance this would happen at our DO.
People on O/T bought in early to scan would have the O/T removed.
Not 1 person would scan the parcels for there own walk because it would be too much hard work.
You would have managers then saying well you scanned it so you HAVE to deliver it.

This is still a goer btw.

RM should introduce a "Accepted/Arrived At" scan which all Tracked would have at a DO, which would prove that an item has arrived at the DO. Then whoever's doing a walk scan the Tracked items that they'll be taking out
