Attendance Review and days off
At my work they count all the days you are sick against you in the attendance review....
no matter if they are Sundays, no matter if they are your days off.
So you could phone in ill on Thursday, phone in ill on Friday, your day off for the week is Saturday, Sunday is a non-working day, then you phone in ill Monday and come back Tuesday.
They will count each day from Thursday to Monday, so 5 days, as absences. When you actually only had Thursday, Friday and Monday off work, 3 days.
Is this normal? is this the way they count absence? seems completely wrong. How can they say 'oh look you had 5 days of sickness'.....when you were only off work for 3. !!!!!!!!

Why are you ringing in ill everyday for 1 phone call is enough for short term absences.norris9 wrote: ↑23 Jul 2022, 20:46At my work they count all the days you are sick against you in the attendance review....

ok, I see. So if you are sick Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, but you had a long weekend, you might as well lie and say you were only sick on Friday. So only 1 day counts against you, not 4.

If you are sick on Friday but believe you will be well enough to return to work on Tuesday then if you inform them of that on Friday only 1 day sick will be recorded.norris9 wrote: ↑26 Jul 2022, 19:19ok, I see. If however you aren't well enough to return on Tuesday you will now have 2 separate absences on your record.

Re: Attendance Review and days off
So based on the way they record it, if you are ill on a single Sunday then you should report it.
If Sundays count....they count, so if you are in bed hungover on a Sunday it should be on your record.
In other words....counting Sundays against you is ridiculous as it's no cost to them if you are sick on a Sunday. Sunday has nothing to do with them, nor does your day off.

Re: Attendance Review and days off
It’s their (Royal Mails ) interest to count Sundays because they probably claim SSP of the government.

Why would you report it on a sunday if you are not due to work it. it really is easy how it works it cannot be explained any easier than has already been.norris9 wrote: ↑26 Jul 2022, 20:40So based on the way they record it, if you are ill on a single Sunday then you should report it.

Re: Attendance Review and days off
It is easy but my issue with is it it counts as a days absence on the attendance procedure but you can't be absent if you are not scheduled to work. Not sure about the legality of it but hey, it's Royal Mail.

Re: Attendance Review and days off
this is a bloody good point mate. i am currently staring down the barrel of a dismissal because apparently. having one week ( mon friday) self cert and one week (signed of by the skeletal specialist for 5 days. ( total ten) now Rm count the weekends. so my ten days sick gets bumped upto 12 days and triggers an AR3norris9 wrote: ↑26 Jul 2022, 20:40So based on the way they record it, if you are ill on a single Sunday then you should report it.
