Working with a colleague who has covid

Post by sardonicus »

Colleagues with covid are allowed to work in our DO...

I realise it's perfectly legal but is it right? I mean I wouldn't expect people with heavy colds or flu to be encouraged to enter the workplace.

Some female colleagues are concerned they may catch it and pass on to their unvaccinated children.

Is it a policy to be encouraged or is it more responsible to expect colleagues who actually test positive to stay away?
I know there are concerns over sick absences etc but would you be happy working next to someone with flu?

Just saying....

Definitely not, I’m in the vulnerable group and I caught covid for the first time a couple of weeks ago and I was taken to hospital on three occasions in that ten days I was off sick. The DOM prior to me catching it tried to bring back a colleague who still had the virus (unvaccinated) and it’s only because I vehemently opposed it was his plan scuppered. The company guidance on covid commences by stating that you should follow NHS advice and they actually give you the link.

The only reason why our employer wants us to be at work with Covid because it cost money to cover absence.

What other Common Virus other than Flu may put you in hospital?

You may have caught Covid and symptoms were Mild ,you decide not to bother with a mask anymore but the next reinfection floors you!

This virus is ever changing and mutating , Omicron largely evades immunity from past infection or two vaccine doses ,herd immunity is non existent because is changes so much.
There is a good chance you may get reinfected 3 or 4 times a year!

Wear a mask in crowded areas and especially at RM workplace.
Please do not under estimate the severity of this virus and what health conditions it may cause or trigger.
