Covid positive at work !
Hello I hope you are all well and keeping safe.
Today we had two covid positive postman come into office for work.
I asked my dom what was going on and was told it now RM policy that they can come to work.
I now starting later to avoid possible covid interaction but feel sorry for others .
Anyone else had this?
Take care

Re: Covid positive at work !
It depends if they are showing symptoms and/or are unwell.
If that is the case, then they have to self isolate

You are doing the right thing,Believe me.
Ok ,Omicron is less nasty than Delta for most but this is an ever changing virus.
No PCR testing after April 1st!
Ignorance is bliss but also a killer.

If they are positive whats the difference. no your wrong self isolation might aswell not exist anymore. If you were on a stage 2 an got covid what would you do isolate or go to work not a great choice.

Re: Covid positive at work !
There is no longer a legal requirement for people with coronavirus (COVID-19) infection to self-isolate, however if you have any of the main symptoms of COVID-19 or a positive test result, the public health advice is to stay at home and avoid contact with other people.
This will come under Regulation 3 Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 on individual risk assessments

Re: Covid positive at work !
To knowingly, have Covid and expected to come into work is gross negligence in my opinion.
Everybody’s immune system responds differently, you could be ok with Omicron or any other variant but your partner, neighbour, work colleague could be severely ill and there’s Long Covid to think about.
Remember, the Virus is ever changing and vaccinations need to be tweaked for different variants but we are still using the original vaccine!
This Government is chancing your health and well-being.
Royal Mail is chancing your health and well-being.
We need personally take control what we believe is right for ourselves.
Whether that's wearing a ffp3 mask , starting later to avoid crowded Delivery offices, it’s down to YOUR choice.
Let’s see how the next six month progress with No PCR testing and No free Lateral Flow kits.
Below from the Government’s website
The emergence of new variants will be a significant factor in determining the future path of the virus. New variants of COVID-19 will continue to emerge. This could include variants that render vaccines less effective, are resistant to antivirals, or cause more severe disease. The pathway to greater stability will also be affected by the use of vaccination and available treatments.

Your not expected to come in. In a statement from Royal Mail put out on the 'Workplace' app it said 'If you test positive for Covid, you are still advised to stay at home and avoid contact with others for at least five full days.' 'If you have symptoms of Covid-19, you have a personal responsibility to protect yourself and others by staying at home.'

Re: Covid positive at work !
copy paste of myself, but hopefully it improves the chances of this becoming more common knowledge:
There is too much emphasis on the 5 days as well, as if it's “right, you've had 5 days, back to work.”
The bit that keeps being left out, deliberately or not you be the judge, is that you are meant to keep testing and remain in isolation until you've had 2 negative tests in a row (on consecutive days) before returning to 'your normal routine'. People are returning to work whilst positive, due to intimidation or worry over stages, and thus the cycle continues as they infect others.

Re: Covid positive at work !
Unless RM pay for the tests, perhaps not now but in April once the tests have to be paid for, probably few if anyone will bother testing in the first place.
Until RM go back to covid self isolation not counting towards a stage, you're probably going to get loads going in whether positive or not. Whose going to risk a stage 3 if covid self isolation would push them onto a stage 3?

Re: Covid positive at work !
Without intending to sound hostile or argumentative, that's speculation and conjecture and isn't my concern. My concern is to highlight that current and correct health guidance (which may or may not change April 1st) is being ignored. Whether that is because Royal Mail/DOMs are deliberately misrepresenting it, lack of general awareness, poor reading comprehension...we're back to speculation and it's not for me to say.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑21 Mar 2022, 10:55Unless RM pay for the tests, perhaps not now but in April once the tests have to be paid for, probably few if anyone will bother testing in the first place.

Re: Covid positive at work !
We're pretty lucky in Deliveries that we spend most of our working day outside, in the fresh air!
I believe the main problem exists in those two, or three, hours we spend indoor prepping the walks. Obviously Van Shares have additional exposure.
In future I'm going to be a bit more concious of that indoor time, already some staff have started masking up again on IPS. Luckily most of the Covid adjustments are still in place i.e we haven't moved all the frames back closer together and subconsciously I think people are still giving colleagues more room when queing up etc. I stopped masking up to clear Businesses and Post Offices but I think I'll go back to masks. It's not a major problem.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
