Self isolating on return from Spain etc

Has anyone had to self isolate for 14 days on returning from a country not on the safe "travel corridor" list?

Does Royal Mail pay your wages still? Or is it unpaid leave?

We where told it’s unpaid leave or if you have outstanding holidays you can use that?
Why anyone would go abroad in this pandemic is beyond belief, phone in sick with sunburn?

If colleagues choose to travel, they should do so knowing that quarantine when they return is a possibility and they will need to work from home where possible, take annual leave or unpaid leave remains. Our current approach to annual leave continues to apply – all pre-booked leave must be taken.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

This seems to be general government advice not how Royal Mail "interprets it".

I take it Royal Mail will make it unpaid absence?

Oh OK thanks. Unpaid leave then if no outstanding holidays to use.

My brother and mother went abroad. Their reason. They wanted to. People want to take the risk for many reasons. Some people like taking risks some don't.

Also please be aware if you go away for a jolly...

However, providing enhanced sick pay is dependent on the absence not being caused by or aggravated by the employee. Where, in the reasonable view of the company, there is evidence of a colleague’s disregard for public health guidance, which then leads to them needing to self-isolate, Royal Mail sick pay will not be paid.

Ok ta for clarification. To be honest if I did risk some winter sun and when I was there the country went on the quarantine list (like Spain, Portugal, France etc.) then I would expect no pay as I took the risk in the first place. Can't argue with that really.
