I don't dispute any of that, but all the more reason for us to not keep handing our PDA over to scores of people every day and risk passing it on to more vulnerable folk.yellowbelly wrote:What's the point when our fellow posties pick their noses, arses and ears, sneeze all over the frame, cough and fart in any general direction,wacko74 wrote:The least they could do is allow us to sign for items ourselves in the presence of the recipient to avoid scores of different people handling our PDA's every day.
can't be arsed washing their hands after having a number one, then go to the canteen, pick up a PDA, drive a vehicle, use door handles, leave their manky
half eaten sandwiches and burgers in the wagon etc

Does RM have an actual policy to deal with coronavirus?
All good questions but Id like to add one - what about colleagues who have medical conditions that put them in the high risk section of a coronavirus infection?ihatedogs wrote:Genuine question. We, more than most, mix with every member of our communities and yet nothing has been said at work.
Will deliveries/collections be suspended?
Stop using PDA's?
What if we self isolate, will we get sick pay?
Will the absence policy be suspended so no one is staged over this?
As usual, RM are showing how poor they are at communicating anything to their staff, questions at our office are met with a "don't know".
What are your thoughts and experiences on this?
Should they just continue to work risking their lives?

ok straight from head nurse icu in major west of scotland hospital
all the nurses are shitting their pants worried sick
due to the fact that their is nowhere near enough staff to deal with outbreak
plan apparently is 8hrs on 8hrs off shift patterns
they expect the virus to plateau along the same pattern as china and italy as they have been monitering every (known) case and transmission
they are being routinely tested every day
government doing next to nothing no extra resources being put in
undertakers are on high alert with special instructions to deal with expected demand and storage facilities for bodies
patient arrived in icu unit with major symptoms accompanied by staff in hazmat suits and headgear
head nurse demanded and would not allow access until hazmat staff told her what was wrong with patient or they removed their own protection
which they did and were not happy to do so
nurse raging they brought suspect virus patient straight into unprotected intensive care unit with high risk patients in wards
this is what is happening
country is in a mess

I'd like to think their GP will apply common sense and give them a sick note so they can stay at home to avoid the risk.Norsegold wrote:All good questions but Id like to add one - what about colleagues who have medical conditions that put them in the high risk section of a coronavirus infection?ihatedogs wrote:Genuine question. I had a text from my doctor saying nobody who was ill should attend the surgery.ihatedogs wrote: I'd like to think their GP will apply common sense and give them a sick note so they can stay at home to avoid the risk.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

RM don’t have any definite policies for anything. I asked today “ what happens if someone in our office contracts the corona virus “ reply from manager “ they have to dial 111 “ and that ladies and gentlemen is about as definite an answer you’ll get on this subject. Mail must get through at all costs we are just a pay number. RM wealth over employees health.

Why does RM have to tell us how to deal with this use common sense wash hands keep your distance from customers so sign on their behalf if you have a cough stay at home. My office have gloves and antibacterial wipes so we can clean PDAs and any other surfaces.

I’d like to know where we stand if, I’m the absence of instruction to sign ourselves, we refuse to take out items that require a signature.

No RM issued cleaning wipes here and unlikely / won’t arrive either. . Go for a soap/water morning wash of PDA and don’t let anyone else touch it all day .
