Aldi to give staff 10% Christmas bonus

Aldi has announced a 10% Christmas bonus for staff in recognition of their work throughout the pandemic.

The discounter is to give store and distribution staff a 10% bonus for November, paid in December ahead of Christmas.

Aldi said the move recognised the efforts of over 35,000 colleagues who had worked to keep the nation fed throughout an unprecedented year.

Staff had worked ‘tirelessly’ through the pandemic, said Aldi UK & Ireland CEO Giles Hurley

The discounter is to give store and distribution staff a 10% bonus for November, paid in December ahead of Christmas.

Aldi said the move recognised the efforts of over 35,000 colleagues who had worked to keep the nation fed throughout an unprecedented year.

All permanent Aldi staff in operations or logistics roles, with a start date of 2 November 2020 or earlier, are eligible for the bonus.

The news follows Tesco’s announcement yesterday of a 10% Christmas bonus for its store, DC and customer engagement centre staff.

“This year has been a difficult one for so many and our colleagues have worked tirelessly to ensure the nation continues to have access to high-quality affordable food,” said Aldi UK & Ireland CEO Giles Hurley.

“This bonus is a gesture of our appreciation for our amazing Aldi colleagues who have shown incredible resilience and dedication throughout 2020.”

A number of supermarkets awarded staff bonuses in the country’s first national lockdown period, including Tesco, Aldi, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons, Waitrose and M&S.

All royal mail staff deserve a bonus like this

And a great 1 year no strings attached pay rise

Aldi CEO Giles Hurley that's who we need she recognizes the staff's hard work

they deserve it, i did 8 years in tesco i christmas is hectic, miles harder than what modern day work at royal mail is
and anyone who has worked in retail can easily back me up on that

The amount of times we finish early easily goes over whatever a 10% rise would be in terms of hours worked = pay

That would equate to around 200 hours from early finishes, which would mean finishing an hour early almost everyday. This definitely isn't the case in our office and I guess most offices. I can probably count the early finishes this year on two,maybe 3,hands.

Same in our office no one finnished early , plus who would want to Finnish early with pda tracking your every move

Bet if your an Aldi staff member and tried our shifts in the rain ice cold weather pda tracking your every move and work load they would rush back to there old job

utter rubbish I worked for Asda for 4 years and Christmas in goods in department and yes it was crazy but nowhere near as physical demanding as we have it. I don’t know about you but I’m walking about23-25 thousand steps a day and my body aches like mad! It takes between 5 and 6 hours a day on delivery plus I’m in office for 2-5 and 3 hours a day and this is physically much harder, and will only have 20-25 min break a day

Worked many a xmas in supermarkets and would take working there than what we have here. The physical demands in this job and out working in all types of weather then it’s a no brainer.

Absolute horseshit. I don't know where you work but I would imagine most people on here would love a transfer there for all these fabled early finishes you go on about.

yes before I go out about 15 maybe minutes and literally about 5/6 minutes on delivery and I’m completely knackered every day!

We get £200. Aldi are offering 10% bonus on hours worked between December 13th and January 9th. Entry level pay at Aldi is £9.30 per hour. By my quick calculations that would mean having to average about 53 hours a week for 4 weeks to match our bonus. Obviously I’m assuming this isn’t an extra bonus additional to an existing one.

Haha, our office swings a lot. Summer is quiet due to student accommodation... Generally. Jobs are failing daily just now, and usually that is the case every year from November through Xmas.
