Doesn't look good - new Union news....
Dear All,
Although the below appears to be bleak – Dave Ward has met senior management and they are not of the “same mind” as the below states. That is not to say the business’s aspirations suit us as a trade union nor suits our aspirations for a mutual interest approach. Their aspirations obviously centre on the shareholders aspirations.
Van Sharing
Not a mad clammer from our members, and very minimal take up. Wales had the highest percentage – baring in mind that part of the UK is in full lockdown.
Pay
The business are still pushing for a 3 year deal linked to trials/units and functions to self fund, they are proosing the pay deal is im small lump sums consoladated every April and using the recent COVID £200 bonus as part of any pay deal.
Shorter Working Week
Proposed minmal minutes here and there but linked to “improvement principals” and “daily change”as well as auto data hours capture and resource scheduler.
Industrial Relations
The CWU to only be “consulted” on people issues rather then operational issues with the IR framework to be looked at in regards to area level representation. Thus meaning a 20% reduction in CWU reps nationally.
The attendance agreement to be reviewed/re-negotiated as well as the conduct agreement and the individual performance stands to be replaced by “non-culpible efficiency”
New conduct procedure proposed as well as the grievance/B&H process
No face to face appeals (just remote) – this would not be ACAS compliant.
New didpute process proposed
USO
The business have been very positive on retaining the 6 day service
Processing
4 revisions per year
Planning at 100BSI as minimum
Less hours per shift
Flex up with agency only
No model week as a forecast – just a basic forecast
Distribution
12 week rolling revisions
Flexing up utilising agency only
Auto data hours capture
Any electronic data capture – the CWU will only be “consulted”
Deliveries
No model week forecast – just a basic forecast
Revisions at a minimum of 100BSI
Six wing frame bases push
5 hour plus delivery span
Attendance patterns will be planned on mail arrival patterns
“ATT” inititives – or regualr changes to TM1’s
Emphasis on tracking indiviuals (PDA/Trimble) – linked to non-culpable efficiency
CWU will only be “consulted” on electronic data information
Currently part timers are working well over their contracts but huge USO failures remain
Whilst the above may not be pleasant reading and it may appear we have gone 2 steps back, if they pushed all the above in to our functions/units it would basically fail as the work the local management would have to perform would simply not happen. For example the declaration of clear offices (daily) is a fabrication. The current conduct/attendance/B&H processes from local management also fail - in every department.
Terry Pullinger did mention the possibility of “another war” due to the insincerety in negotiations by the business negotiators

I would suggest the Union are getting absolutely royally rogered!
Cannot even strike over Xmas this year, no time.
Seriously poor judgement by all involved.

So basically Dave Ward has been spun a line by management and because he’s a gullible mug he’s fallen for it. We are so screwed.

How much of this is just painting as bleak a potential future as possible to give the union scope for a "win".
Much of it is pie in the sky nonsense that isn't even practical.
Until or unless this comes from Royal Mail directly I'm not buying it.
It's not the first time someone's came on here pronouncing doom and gloom followed by a "deal of the century",

Too true. Anybody who believes that a new management era is upon us is a fool. The board decide where they want the company to go (via shareholder pressure/influence) and its the CEO's job to implement the board's strategy. Unless the board changes strategic direction it will all just continue as before - just dressed up slightly differently. Meet the new boss - same as the old boss!swoosta wrote:So much for a new management era of talks post Rico, this lot are just as bad - what a surprise
The union were onto something by engaging the major shareholders directly a year ago .... what happened to all that??!!!

The usual
Tell us all all the horrors and ham up how bad it could be so that when the 'meh' deal is made - that is nowhere near as good as we all wanted - they can say 'ahhh but its not as bad as......all the above''
So will say it should be treated as a win

If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next
