It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

They are baiting the London Divisional Committee , trying to get them out on their own before a national ballot so they can isolate them and position them as the problem.
It's an old trick.

ballot papers should have been put out as soon as legal battle was lost
how the cwu can talk to rm while they treat them and us with utter contempt is beyond belief
at every turn rm have been working behind the backs of cwu and mediators
enough is enough
ballot now

The whole thing is a bait, we must make sure that we can still strike over the Christmas period of this year with no recourse available to Royal Mail.
Get it all set up and in place for the Christmas strike ASAP, it is the only real leverage we have.

To be honest, AHDC sounds like a waste of money. Shepherding casuals around a temporary outhouse is a lot different than running a workforce in a mail centre.
First of all, if you don't have managers who have a feel for the work flow in their very own plants - knowing almost instinctively where and when to place staff - beating them over the head with spreadsheets isn't going to help. Either they learn how to do it or don't.
Staffing in a mail centre is also holistic. Understaff in one area and other areas down the line are going to be overstaffed as they're starved for work. Again, you have to know how to move people about.
So yeah. Hire better managers (if that's what you feel you need to do.) Don't add another costly level of management and expect miracles.

I fear that a strike over Christmas 2020 will be too late as RM will have made major changes by then, with no recourse for the CWU! We need action now! RM need to know that their behaviour is unacceptable.SSkUNkY wrote:The whole thing is a bait, we must make sure that we can still strike over the Christmas period of this year with no recourse available to Royal Mail.

If we ballot now I believe we have to call a strike within 6 months.SSkUNkY wrote:The whole thing is a bait, we must make sure that we can still strike over the Christmas period of this year with no recourse available to Royal Mail.

Why is it taking too long for the ballot.

How can they close a place and expect people to travel by whatever means to Greenford mc just like that when normally such a thing would take months to arrange?

They won't be closing the DO, it will just be reverting to being a normal DO and the staff that run the CSS machines will probably go back on deliveryTheStrangler wrote:How can they close a place and expect people to travel by whatever means to Greenford mc just like that when normally such a thing would take months to arrange?

Sounds like Royal Mail are still trying to provoke the CWU even further by pushing the boundaries over what they might be able to get away with their proposed "divide and conquer" strategy.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Royal Mail are trying to get the workforce in the offices/areas affected by the executive action to walk out without a legal ballot taking place in that office/area. They will then take the CWU to court again for illegalling walking out/striking without a 'legal ballot for industrial action'
Simply put Royal Mail want to bankrupt the union and put it out of business.
That's what I heard last week off our old rep, who is still heavily involved with the CWU through the Labour Party.

The new parcel strategy trial at Swindon doesn't sound like an accurate representation of what they wish to introduce across the network. If the amount of mail to be 'absorbed' doesn't mirror a sixth of a walk and the other factors do not mirror the strategy then the trial is useless.
