Dear Colleague

CWU APPEAL AGAINST HIGH COURT INJUNCTION

Branches will be aware that yesterday the union lost our appeal against the High Court decision to grant Royal Mail and injunction to invalidate our strike ballot.

The whole process and the speed in which the decision was taken, demonstrates just how much the justice system is rigged against working people and democracy. However, such injustice will only serve to make the union and our members even more determined to oppose Royal Mail and do everything within our power to continue with and win this dispute.

Furthermore, we can assure Branches that we will be working closely with the TUC to ensure the whole movement refocuses its fight against these draconian laws, as part our ongoing new deal for workers campaign.

The union will now need to carefully consider the full terms of the written judgement and its implications on any future industrial action ballot.

The PEC will meet next week and in due course the DGS (P) will advise Branches on the next steps in the dispute.

Any enquiries on the court case should be addressed to sdgs@cwu.org

Yours sincerely

Dave Ward - General Secretary

Tony Kearns - Senior Deputy General Secretary

Terry Pullinger - Deputy General Secretary (Postal)

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Its a real shame the workers of this country.. are persecuted.. in pursuit of profit to the wealthy...

The elites... establishment..... make their own rules up to protect themselves and their wealth....

Its a sad state of affairs when the justice system is rigged for their own purpose and cause...

At the expense of hard working people being butchered..

There is no true.. honest justice system..its rigged for the elites...

Stop believing Ward and his nonsense. The union f*cked it up big time.
demonstrates just how much the justice system is rigged against working people and democracy.
You're making a laughing stock of yourself. Stop fighting Class War and take a long look in the mirror, Dave.

Hopefully we'll just have Another Ballot (wth some specific instructions NOT to open letters and share it to Face Book  ) and be ready for IA in January :thumbup

Heard today that we might very well have these Agency Guys until the end of January so perhaps Royal Mail are also thinking along those lines. :hmmmm

It is discusting that a Union that can produce this kind of a Turnout, with such a High YES Vote, should be shown two fingers by the Establishment, on a Technicality. :no no If common sense was used, and perhaps they had discounted 25% of the YES Votes it would have still been a successful Vote for IA. I bet they (The Establishment) wouldn't want such stringent rules applied to a National Election ... because non of the Buggers would ever get in. :cuppa

Christmas pressure is gone then, they'll just say strike away and lose a day's money. Christmas, with the election was our only leverage.

The situation is ... what it is. There's no winding the clock back and doing it properly. Best Case Scenario for us : Reballot and go again in 6 weeks .... or Just Give up, and say, "OK Royal Mail just do what you want". Is that what you'd prefer? :hmmmm

January's still a busy time of the year. Don't you remember returning to work after the New Year and thinking, "Thank God that's Over" ... only to find nearly as many parcels as over Christmas .... mostly stuff that never arrrived on time!

Personally I believe that "Doing the Job Properly" is a far more effective way to effect Royal Mail operations... But we all know there's enough Posties that just please themselves, and like to work for FREE that it would be a hard sell for the CWU to get everyone to do it. Especially if there was a NO OVERTIME campaign :thumbup .... Again there's some Posties that "Need " that extra Cash .... but there's many others that are just Greedy Bastards! :cuppa

Share prices can drop in January just as easily as they do in December. Or February, Or March.

Agree with your comments DP, but a 'campaign' might be classed as unofficial IA - recipe for disaster - again......

You're on here, reading this Wazer so you're obviously taking the time to keep yourself informed. :thumbup Tell others in your DO about RMC and get them to log on. All the communications for the CWU normally get posted on here and there's normally links to on-Line Briefings. I'm sure most of your colleagues have mobiles, with which they could access those briefings. Good Luck. :cuppa
