intermittant buddy trays now no 2nd walksorted

Was told that they are not working the walksorting machines and it comes in manual for the 2nd run to save money at Gatwick Mail Centre. Buddy trays are done sometimes and not others.
Plus sometimes some get walksorted and others dont
Which means further down the line at Delivery ,Posties are getting out later due to extra IPS .
So savings of hours with the left hand and extra O/T on the right hand.
Its all a huge cockup

Think you mean that the 1st wave is walk sequenced and the 2nd wave walk sorted. Think it's the way it's going to happen all around the country, maybe on wave 2 half the batches walk sequenced and the other half walk sorted but I think all walk sorted on wave 2 will be more likely. It means that iLSM/IMP and CSS operators can be kept on flats/letters/Tracked/packets for longer, saving on the need for some overtime and use of casuals for some of a night shift. Not all areas have buddy trays.

It is fairly common now to get no sequenced mail on wave 2. Due to declining letter volumes it is more cost effective in the MPU's to just walksort wave 2 which is only a single pass operation unlike sequencing which is a 3 pass operation. As for Large Letter buddy trays these are not a given and very much depends on the workload in the Mail Centres as to how much they can do for delivery.
