SWW next hour reduction

Post by trouble »

Has any office within the business got the next hour reduction of the working week anywhere apart from a later start time.

1st hour involved everyone starting later as it was to come off the start of the duties despite no reduction in workload etc.

Managers are now claiming that the next hour involves yet another later start time and that CWU headquarters and high level Royal Mail officials have agreed this - no other option available.

The managers are cock sure of themselves that if it goes through the IR framework that they will win as other offices have gone to stage 3 and all have lost, what is happening?

No plausible reason for taking it off the start times etc in our office as WIPWH etc all good, office efficiency good.
Where has the union gone over all this?

Revision changed to suit managers agenda as hours aren't there to save, refusing to use the agreed tools etc claiming that they can be manipulated. No matter what he just wants to make every duty bigger I think the rep is in his pocket and area rep not really interested.

we are 1 in 6 rota, when we dropped from 39 to 38 we just started 12min later with no changes to workload so guessing the same will happen again but with more added once our revision is sorted :arrrghhh
nice work by the union!

Not many in my DO start work before time. There's a few on early sorting which is fair enough as they're getting paid, but hardly anyone actually works for free. which is how it should be.

Both RM and cwu need to be up front and let us know if every hours reduction equates to a later start bringing us ever closer to a 9 - 5 as this information was never mentioned. I thought it was only supposed to be the first hour which meant later start times maybe someone can post a link to the first hours reduction etc.

The staff in our office continue to start early and RM just sit back and rub their hands. If they start us later the staff will just continue to come in early as they are out to look after themselves but are too short sighted to see what's coming round the corner via the revision etc. The management very pally pally with staff when it suits but are just out to try and make a name for themselves for bigger bonuses they are continuously do OPG's work and the rep says nothing.

Why has the cwu gone quiet over RM doing whatever they want, as this is having a detrimental impact on staff moral and a number are even talking about pulling their subs which is a shock as office was once seen as milatan. I personally think it is a bad idea to withdraw from the cwu as we need all the backing we can get by the sounds of some of the revisions.

Lets face it, it was always going to be off the start times. With later start times, RM can push final dispatch times back in outward MCs, allowing more items into the network

Start later maybe Monday and Tuesday and then finish later rest of week except Saturday which makes no difference to most people who still come in about 45 minutes early despite being given more lapsing! This business seems full of people who still work for free which is how they make money! I’ve never seen anything like it there is even guys working day of for free by prepping d2d, and then manager criticised people for cutting off or coming in on time it’s a strange way it’s all run

Got a couple of lads in my office that are constantly telling others to slow down and work your time etc. They both come in an hour early every day , you couldn’t make it up .

We have early unpaid clowns here too, in an hour early and then start slagging off the other staff who start on their time calling them slow and useless. Twats ruin the job for everyone.

I've given up telling people how much money they are giving royal mail for coming in early and skipping breaks. As long as I don't do it that's all that matters to me. Some people are plainly just muggs, idiots stupid or just can't do maths. They're up in arms ready to strike for a pay rise but give away hundreds of pounds a yr by working for free. Can't get it through to them though.

For those who can't do maths .....10 mins early every day is £466/yr in royal mails pocket instead of yours. Come in 20 mins early and skip your breaks and you're writing a cheque to royal mail for £2800 every year.

Good shout rambo, don't know exactly how you've worked out the figures but wonder if you've included
the RM pension contributions, employers NI contributions that should be paid by RM on that 'free' work and
(being altruistic here) employee NI and tax that should go to funding the NHS etc :hmmmm that would be paid by the employee.
