The failure to implement the SWW was them reneging on a pay rise to part time staff.scooby doo wrote: ↑18 Jan 2021, 14:26

Obviously if they had reneged on a pay offer to full time staff then we would have gate meetings and walkouts and ballots and lots of "rising up" but screwing the part time staff barely even registers.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

I honestly believe apart from the pay rise in our back pocket, for us working in delivery will we actually see/feel any change in say a years time?
No chance of a cultural change every manager would need replacing. Am I going to go in to work and every PT that has been working above there hours have there contracts upped? doubt it.Will bullying and harassment stop? doubt it. Will all delivery offices that are not fit for purpose get some TLC? no chance.
The 4 pillars agreement was supposedly legal binding so I have no faith in a agreement of spirit and intent. Nothing will change for the better IMO.

Will the revisions add duties? They may create new duties for parcels, but I won't hold my breath that there will be more duties/people than at the moment. Our office needs 4 to 6 more duties thanks to new builds, we couldn't even get that many extra vans at Christmas.
Neither the company or CWU use the words "BULLYING AND HARASSMENT" so the "culture" will remain as it is (at best).

Re: The Agreement
Is this correct? I thought this only applied to shop and betting shop workers? Can I opt out of Sunday working.

Re: The Agreement
I can’t believe more people aren’t looking into this. I’ve told people at my office to check it out, I’ve mentioned it on Facebook, but people ignore it and keep going round in circles saying ‘I don’t want to work sundays, it’s a disgrace blah blah.’ It could quite easily go viral and then not a single person who doesn’t want to would have to work it.ViperF wrote: ↑08 Feb 2021, 07:15Is this correct? Unless it’s in your contract, you can’t be forced. I genuinely am in church on a Sunday (I play guitar in the church band) and won’t be working Sunday. Now, I believe RM can ask me to sign a new contract with Sunday working in, but if I refuse stating religious grounds and then they dismissed me I imagine they’d be on very dodgy ground - many lawyers would have a field day plus it would open the doors for others to put in claims.
Much easier for them to just ask for volunteers and have it in the contracts of new starters.
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

What do you think a collective agreement does?Unless it’s in your contract,
It changes your contract.
https://www.acas.org.uk/changing-an-emp ... ee-changes
An employer can make a change ('variation') to an employment contract if:
there's something in the contract that allows the change (usually called a 'flexibility clause')
the employee agrees to the change.
the employee's representatives agree to the change (for example, a trade union)
They just did. Now, I believe RM can ask me to sign a new contract with Sunday working in,
You just signed it by a margin of 91%.
That's trade union representation for ya.
To be honest the fact that people don't realise that every time they vote in an agreement it changes their employment contract scares the s**t out of me. This agreement specifically introduces 7 day working to your contract and with the wording of only "initially voluntary" it means .....
YES AT SOME POINT DOWN THE LINE WHEN ROYAL MAIL DECIDE WE'RE NO LONGER IN THE INTITIALLY PHASE YOU CAN BE MADE TO WORK SUNDAYS NO MATTER HOW RELIGIOUS YOU ARE ...
Sorry for shouting but the point had to be made big time.

And no problem then, I’ll begrudgingly just work my 5 hours and go home.
