Natural attrition?[/quote]

Not sure what's worse that or the term they used to use "natural wastage!"

It's also known in HR circles as "employee churn rate".

Natural attrition by dictionary definition means to constantly wear down to weaken or destroy....
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Yeah, that sounds pretty much in line with what CEO Stuart Simpson was thinking.

Or alternatively when it comes to reducing a workforce.... ''Why pay them off when you can piss them off?''

You expect the game to be rigged. Deciding on the USO in the midst of the worst recession in decades is a bit much.

My opinion is that by next summer the uso will be 5 days a week and 10,000 jobs are gone. 35 hr week may be in there but won't hold my breath.

1 in 6 deliveries with dedicated parcel duty doing oversize and possibly part of a delivery other 5 picking up 1 whole duty between them.

The job cannot cope with letters and parcels of a certain size, this is 2020 not 1920 when only Christmas time was busy with packets.

When I started in mid 80's mail was king and there were duties that only done parcels, now we are tasked with picking up 40% increase and no infrastructure to cope with volume.

I see daily, deliveries being left for 3/4 days cos someone needs a roll of sellotape or false eyelashes from wish but old Mrs Goggins can't get her hospital appointment on time cos we don't do everyday deliveries.....scandal

You sound like you are sick of the job then. Honestly, you are sick of having a bag on your shoulder and a pda in your hand? This is what we do. I'm writing 739s out if a/ they haven't answered in 10 seconds and b/ I know the neighbours are out. How many miles a day do you think you'll be walking if we don't deliver parcels? - you'd be moaning about the wear and tear on your body then.

RMtv Special 1 July - Joint statement 1 July 2020

“We also need to talk about pay”

JOINT STATEMENT BETWEEN RMG AND CWU(EDIT)
3. Timeline and Scope of Talks
The scope of these talks will be all encompassing, with everything on the table and will
include the following:

3. To agree a pay settlement for April 2020.

...All areas will be progressed with a view to reaching agreement by the end of July….

CWU update

Achim Dünnwald has the latest on talks with CWU

27th August
(EDIT)
“This week we have started our discussions on pay, we want to get an agreement on pay and the best way to get an agreement on pay is a change deal….”

So it appears if talks about pay did not commence until the end of August then progress to reach agreement by the end of July was unattainable.
