We can't really strike while the virus is spreading.
I predict another strike ballot in October when the RM reveal what changes they want on the USO followed by industrial action for the run up to Xmas 2020.

As everything is on hold at present another ballot may be necessary.

As for the USO, October 2019 courier, Royal mail stated “The regulator has begun the review of the Universal service….”

To quote Terry Pullinger Re USO "The regulator has been doing a review & it will be due out later this month" (March 2020)

So a decision is imminent or perhaps or it could be delayed. In any event Ofcom will produce their review decision & as Royal Mail said “We will continue to deliver the USO …. whatever the outcome.”

My theory as to why some people did not vote.

The ballot result was predicted to be a high Yes percentage.
If people did not believe industrial action was the way to go they may have chosen not to vote at all rather than vote no
by not voting you obviously reduce the turnout therefore increasing the chance of invalidating the vote by insufficient turnout rather than just simply voting no which actually facilitates the yes result. (if that makes sense)
A bit of a loophole, which favours the business under the current laws.

It obviously may not work like that but this is my understanding (ignore if incorrect)

after last time it got f****ed up, the general comments in my office were of the nature 'Why should I bother, they couldn't run a p**s up in a brewery' etc.
irrespective of the underlying issues that the ballot was all about. Massive let down that could have been avoided.

Two choices vote no and go to gig economy style working vote yes and at least let them no were not having it even if you do think the union are sxxt.
