But don't CWU members get a vote on the offer of these negotions ?worktotime wrote: ↑27 Nov 2020, 17:43and i bet the negotiating team arent working as hard as us in delivery, its a f***ing disgrace the way delivery staff are being worked and treated ,ie under staffed and its not due to covid , deliverys failing for days and everyday , parcels just piling up , xmas failure this year for us and it will be the 1st time in 20+ years ive been a postie , so i hope the cwu dont try and twist everything round to a pay deal to deflect the real problems

Oh yeah the union and Royal Mail never ever miss an opportunity to shaft the part timers don’t worry about that.Strouther10 wrote: ↑27 Nov 2020, 18:11No doubt any pay deal in terms of back pay will be a set lump sum if agreed and it’ll be pro rata....therefore shafting the part-timers![]()

Outdated, outmanouvered and out-thought that is what has happened to our union for years. All the talk about agreeing change and modernisation in Royal Mail maybe they should look closer at themselves and start to find people who can negotiate and communicate effectively for a workforce who are overworked and underpaid for the incredible job we do.

Agreement expected to be reached next week means that there is no agreement.Martin Walsh wrote: ↑26 Nov 2020, 21:27Yes talks tomorrow and there will be an update after the meeting a much more comprehensive update.
Are we confident that RM are going to change their position in the next 7 days or are the union going to change theirs?
Is the expectation of an agreement by 4th December higher or lower than the expectation that we would reach an agreement by the end of July, or is it higher or lower than the expectation of an agreement before the half year financial results were released?
It has to be higher than our expectation was that we really would receive a comprehensive update today.
It is certainly higher than our expectation that the union leadership will finally do the honourable thing and resign.

Re: Agreement expected to be reached next week
There's a bit of a contradiction going on here.
On the one hand they're saying they are close to a comprehensive deal on pay and job security.
On the other hand they are trying desperately through the press and branches to secure the 6 day USO after Ofcom's rather predictable findings.
Surely any comprehensive deal on job security would already include a commitment by the business to the USO bearing in mind it would "apparently" cost 20,000 jobs.
Has the union quietly accepted a Mon-Fri letters delivery on the proviso that job reduction is managed through MTSF without compulsory redundancies and is this show of concern for the USO just a false campaign for show?
Alternatively is the business not interested in reducing letter deliveries and the Ofcom ruling irrelevant?
Something doesn't make sense.

Did the experiment on 5 days letters show that savings would be achieved at the levels anticipated? My experience was that we needed at least 60 -70% of staff to deliver just packets and parcels on a Saturday. Also I assume the new test kit contract will have an influence although I dont know how many we are expecting. It might be that RM are happy to kick this issue down the road.
