People power has resulted in plans to relocate Perranporth Post Office to the village service station being overturned, but it has been confirmed that the search is still on for a new location.
It had been announced that the post office building would be closing and the branch would be moved into Perranporth Services Ltd on Budnic Hill.
But after a public consultation saw 71 customers, residents and MP Sarah Newton express concerns over the new location, The Post Office confirmed it had dropped plans to relocate to the suggested site.
Although the branch won't move into the service station, The Post Office said that it was still searching for a "suitably located retailer" to host the branch in the village.

It has also been confirmed that the village Postmaster is set to resign. They have agreed to continue to run the branch until a new location and Postmaster is found and the vacancy to fill the position will be advertised soon.
A spokesperson from The Post Office said: "The Postmaster for Perranporth has expressed an interest to leave the Post Office branch network under our branch modernisation programme subject to us finding a suitably located retailer and suitable postmaster.
"The Postmaster has agreed to continue to run the branch whilst we look for an alternative location. The vacancy will soon be advertised on our website http://www.runapostoffice.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
"We do still have stand-alone Post Offices with retail. However, increasingly Post Offices operate within a retail business, often a convenience store, newsagent or supermarket.
"The Post Office increases footfall to a business and dual use of a premises shares the overhead and helps both businesses to be more sustainable."
Mrs Newton said that she will continue to work with the community to try to find a better alternative location.
"I met with Post Office Ltd to discuss the urgent need to find an alternative location for the post office," she said.
"I will be working with local people to explore alternative options so that we continue to have good access to high quality postal and banking services in Perranporth."
The branch will now continue to run from its current location on St Pirans Road and the Post Office has said that any further plans to relocate would see another six-week public consultation take place for the public to give feedback.
