An event will raise funds for victims of the Post Office Horizon scandal.
The occasion, organised by Winchester Soroptimists, will feature talks by Barbara Jeremiah JP MSc and Dr Kay Linnell OBE, both longstanding advocates for sub-postmasters affected by the scandal.
Their involvement in the Horizon Post Office scandal has also been depicted in the ITV series Mr Bates vs the Post Office.
The drama brought renewed attention to the plight of sub-postmasters across the country, who were wrongfully accused of theft and false accounting due to faults in the Horizon computer system.
Despite public awareness and an ongoing inquiry, many sub-postmasters are still waiting for compensation.
The event will take place on Thursday, October 23, at St Swithun's School, Winchester, starting at 7pm.
Tickets, priced at £28 per person, include drinks and canapés.
They can be purchased through Eventbrite or via a QR code on the event poster.
Proceeds from the evening will be divided equally between the charity Lost Chances for Children of Subpostmasters and Winchester Soroptimists' local charitable projects.
Lost Chances for Children of Subpostmasters is dedicated to restoring the opportunities lost by the families of sub-postmasters caught up in the scandal.
The Winchester Soroptimists, part of a global volunteer movement of women, have been actively involved in supporting the fight for justice for sub-postmasters.
The organisation is committed to transforming the lives of women and girls through education, empowerment, and enabling opportunities.
The group has recently attended the Hat Fair in Abbey Gardens, then the Mayors for Peace in Abbey House and then a fundraising afternoon tea for Solar Aid, where we raised £500 to ‘light a village’.
