Implications on mail after the UK's exit from the EU

Parcel to Channel Islands - How does it get there?

Dear posties,

Out of curiosity, I'd like to ask how parcels get to the Channel Islands. I have recently sent a Tracked 48 to an eBay customer to Jersey - to my pleasant surprise I got a price of £3.95 for Tracked 48. (VAT seems to not apply?!) So I was wondering what paths these parcels take, mainly if they go by boat or plane and from where.

P.S Posties you are doing an amazing job! I had an item from Japan arrive very quickly: left at the JP post office on the third, delivered safely by my postman on the 8th! Keep it up :Very Happy

As far as I know, Channel Islands mail is sent to East Midlands Airport and flown initially to Jersey. Not sure how it gets across to Guernsey and the smaller islands from Jersey.

There's a ferry that goes between both islands (not sure if it also covers the other islands). I'm guessing that it goes by road via that ferry to Guernsey and then probably a little local ferry from there to the rest of the populated islands
