Hello i wonder if you can help me. I sent a pacel to my friend in Poland which i have done many times on the 13th January 2021. I sent it global priority to be delivered quickly. All times its only ever taken no more then 5 days. Its now the 25th January and its still showing as Exported. The thing i noticed is when ive sent before the tracking number always start with EK.... and the delivering company was GLS....this time however it stars with CK... CK194534494GB and shows EPG.
I wonder if you help me understand that and why its taken so long? I pay extra to make sure it does get there in good time.

A change to the letters at the start of the tracking number is not necessarily a problem, they do change from time to time. If you sent this item in a Post Office, the till system should be able to tell if the right barcode has been used for the service, and will refuse to proceed if the wrong barcode is used.
The item has left the UK but hasn't arrived officially in Poland, which means that it is almost certainly held up in Polish customs. Customs requirements changed on 01/01/21 because the UK left the transition agreement. Most parcels are now required to carry a CN22 or (in this case) CN23 customs declaration when travelling to destinations in the EU. Did you fill this out?
Also, there may have been an increase in the clearances required for certain goods. Which brings us back to SpacePhoenix's question: what did you send?

Then that shouldn't cause a problem, however most Customs will take individual batches of mail and do deeper checks on everything in that batch.
So Covid, and Customs is the explanation as to why its taking longer. Customs and probably the Polish Postal service will be working with less people, more restrictions and a lot more post. While COVID is running rampant there will always be delays.
