Delivered to PO BOX i don't have one

Post by mxfrd »

Hi all,

I sent a parcel to france, unfortunately it has not been delivered and sent back to my address in the UK.
I spotted today that it has been delivered to a PO BOX, but i don't have one.

I saw on that forum that i should have received a grey card which will have instructions on how you can pay, and claim the item, but i didn't.

How can i ask for that grey card to be sent again ? Is it available online ?

Thanks for your help

If you know which office is holding the item just go to that delivery office. Bear in mind we have reduced opening hours at the moment.
I presume you have the tracking number.

You need to keep in mind that whoever is dealing with the customs charge items in the delivery office might not necessarily be the normal person, whoever is covering might not know the process inside out.

Surcharges have stopped - Customs charges haven't - could be a case of mistaken identity in the callers office. https://www.royalmailchat.co.uk/communi ... ge#p891330" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

As suggested may be worth calling or visiting them.

I've had the same notification and can now see there is a customs charge to pay.

My question is this - can I avoid the 2 day wait to have it delivered after payment by going to the depot and paying over the counter? Or does it not work like that for RM? I've certainly done this with Parcelforce before.

Yes.
Check for opening times though.

I'm having the same issue although there's no message about a fee, last update just says that the item was delivered to PO Box by National Returns Centre? Any idea on what i can do?

Yes contact Royal Mail direct. National Returns centre means that either the item is being checked for safety issues or that there is a problem with the address. These can be sorted out if you contact Royal Mail and describe the contents and the wrapping etc.

This was how I fixed it

Go to https://www.royalmail.com/receiving-mail/pay-a-fee/pay
Put in your tracking number and select customs charge
Use this service to check if a charge is payable only, don't pay it (unless you want to and will await delivery)

Then go to your local delivery office (where you would go to pick up undelivered RM stuff), give them the tracking code (no grey slip needed) and they will go and get it for you.

Or pay online and pick a delivery day which is usually 2+ days later
