Package Backlog.

Hey, Im sure this is getting boring but i have the same question everyone is asking. I have some friends who sent an International package on the 12 OCT to N. Ireland, I figure that it prolly arrived during the week of the strikes. Is international mail received in London and then sent over to N.I? And if it hasnt arrived at this point does anyone think its worthwile to believe it will? Any info or comments would be appreciated.

I don't think mail for Northern Ireland is classed as international. There is no additional cost to post there, but there is more to pay to post to the Republic, same as to France, Germany and the rest of Europe. A far as I'm aware the same timescales apply to delivery times as the rest of the UK.

My office is being hammered with packets at the minute (callers office is full to overflowing), can't wait until the Christmas pressure period.

Wll its arriving from overseas so its international..Not too far away from approaching two months since it was sent....meh

If you can post the town that its going to the NI posties may be able to tell you if there is a back log still. Something that might help is if it has a tracking number then Customer Service may be able to help.

I delivered a packet yesterday which was posted in Canada on Monday.

Now i know how RM could earn money and we can be entertained....

RIGHT..... It works on that Morning gameshow with that butch old DALE WINTON.... WHOOOOOOO!!! Well enough of that.

The game can start by all the public with missing items.. ie. PACKETS N FLATS N LETTERS. That aint come since the strike, they all put there names in a hat and then 10 lucky winners that are picked out can make an effort to get there item back.... They go to the MC Local to them and go sort thru all the loose items in a hour and if they find the said item with there name on it or return name on it they WIN THE ITEM... YEHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Now that would serve two gains.... 1. The public can get there gear back... 2. RM get cheap-er labour than they get now....

Ohhhh 3. And the public get to learn how RM treat there workers... (SHITE) and then there is 4 I forgot as well...

4. WE GET TO USE THOSE FECKING USELESS CRAP FLAT SCREEN TV's

FOR ALL THE FAMILY AND POSTIES TOO...

Most International mail arrives at Heathrow, is processed at Mount Pleasant Mail Centre in London, and if it is going to NI would be sent to the mail centre or delivery office there. Some mail also arrives at other airports around the country and is processed by a mail centre near the airport.
REIMS mail (Europe, USA and Canada) is treated like first class UK mail and gets processed and sent on to delivery offices the same day it is received. Australia, South Africa, New Zealand and Japan mail is usually processed fairly quickly as well. Mail from the Rest of the World may take longer but is processed within a couple of days.

During the strikes a lot of mail from the Rest of the World (particularly Hong Kong) got diverted to the mail mountain in a Barnet warehouse to be dealt with by agency and casual staff. Don't know what the situation is with that, but wouldn't be surprised if a lot of that is still there.

I believe that some mail for NI arrives at Liverpool Speke Airport, is processed at Liverpool Mail Centre and may be caught up in the backlog there.

I dunno if i'm overly optimistic about this, but i feel that it could be sitting in a pile of packages somewhere. The posties not been given O.T everywhere will obviously lead to a stagnant backlog. I dunno, i will remain hopeful what else can i do?
