Correct address, wrong postcode?

Post by Kezwick78 »

Hi

I hope this is the correct place to post this, I ordered some packages off Ebay on Wed & they were posted first class & second class post yesterday, I asked for them to be delivered to my work address & I have just realised that when I amended the address for delivery I have put my work address but my home postcode, they haven't arrived at work today, does anyone know if they will be delivered to my home address or will they come to my work address but be slightly delayed, so in other words does Royal Mail work off the address or the postcode?

Thanks

Kerry

How different are your Work and Home address postcodes. The bigger the difference the less likely it will be delivered.

If they share the same first code (HD1) it shouldn't delay it at all.

If they share the same 2 letters at the start HD then it may delay it a few days, or even longer it depends on how many offices deliver in that area. Example HD areas are covered by 2 Main offices and 3 smaller offices - it would be pot luck as to whether it got there or not.

If they don't share the same District letters and are separated by more than a few miles - eg HD to BD - It will more than likely be returned to sender.

Of course if your addresses are common names or your work address street name has a corresponding one in your home address area its possible that it could be delivered there.
