International signed for to Australia

Post by Schrödingerscat »

I have sent various parcels to Australia over the past 18 months all using International signed for, having checked tracking information on a random dozen all show items as undelivered.

All consignments @ http://www.royalmail.com/trackdetails" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; show the final entry to be (as an example) 'DESPATCHED TO MELBOURNE AUSTRALIA AUSTRALIA' there is never anything after that or any confirmation of delivery.

Having checked Auspost using the RM tracking reference states no such tracking reference?

Given PayPal and customer claims how can I get actual real tracking? I know most of the items made it ok as customers have contacted me, and obviously if they didn't make it the customers would be on my back.

Now considering I pay a fairly high premium for a 100g with tracked signed for confirmation? Can I claim against all parcels I have sent using this service? As it appears there is no confirmation for international signed for.

Many thanks for any help .... I am expecting a dishonest customer to make a charge back for non receipt of goods.

You are correct in saying that RM tracking numbers do not track via AusPost as they do for some countries. Bear in mind that officially ISF is only marketed as tracked until it leaves the UK, with a signature on delivery which you may or may not be able to view depending on the country (the list of countries that are 'through-tracked' are available in the ISF FAQ on the Royal Mail website).

However, in my experience of Australian customers, if they contact AusPost from Australia (e.g. by telephone) they can usually get some further information by quoting the tracking number.

By all means, you can submit a claim for any items that you feel are undelivered. But RM will more than likely investigate with AusPost, including requesting signature records. Bear in mind that if this results in AusPost saying that the item has been delivered, Royal Mail will refuse your claim.

Good luck!

Many thanks for the reply I contacted Auspost 2-3 days ago with enquiries for confirmation of delivery, which they have helped with although and I quote from one of there emails 'Unfortunately I am unable to provide further confirmation of delivery in the form of a copy of the signature as this is an additional service that you would need to request and pay for at the time of posting.'

Hmm time to generate lots and lots of correspondence to RM as having sent several dozens parcels and paying for a CONFIRMATION OF DELIVERY service from RM that is simply not provided.

I think Royal Mail's get out will be the mention on the International Signed For information page:

Signature on delivery

You can be sure that the item will be handed over only after it is signed for (however please be aware that a copy of the signature is not available).

http://www.royalmail.com/parcel-despatc ... signed-for" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

In other words, in RM's mind anyway, you're paying for the signature service, but not the facility to receive a copy.
