AIRSURE tracking Overseas

Post by BestBeforeGuy »

4-6 working days is the posted expectation for the AirSure service to Canada (1 day faster than the standard 5-7 days).
I had some duplicate birth certificates sent to me from UK so that I could renew my UK passport in time for an upcoming trip to Europe. I chose AirSure as the service as it purports to be reliable and fast and I could apparently track it end to end. Well 10 days later (8 working days) and still no envelope in sight and the best I can get from the Royal Mail tracking feature is that it has left the UK enroute to Canada. This part happened in one day which I think is pretty impressive.
So my frustration really lies with the following;
- No tracking of any use once the shipment is out of the UK (probably a Canada Post issue)
- Paying for a premium service and not receiving what was promised
- My parents sent a letter to me after the AirSure package was sent which arrived today - 5 days by standard mail. Not really sure what I am paying for.

It seems that the good folks who work at RM are doing a stellar job but the organization needs to modify the website claims of service and not overpromise. Plainly, if you cannot guarantee a delivery time or window then don't claim it, just be honest and state that delivery times will vary depending on customs and postal service in receiving country. Or, better yet foster relations with the various international postal services, in this case, Canada Post and share a common or compatible tracking procedure. If UPS, DHL and Purolator do this then it so can the postal services.

If anyone can give me any hints on even getting an accurate ETA of the package then I will know whether to re-order another set of birth certificates or keep the faith that the AirSure ones will show up in the next few days. :arrrghhh

You say its left the UK so must be in the hands of the Canadian Postal service. Have you checked the reference on their tracking website? http://www.canadapost.ca/cpotools/apps/ ... ution=e2s1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets

Thanks for your suggestion but I have been checking regularly and followed up with a few phone calls to the Canada Post help line. I get different variations on a theme from 'it's only just got to Canada, give it time' to ' it must be stuck in customs and we can't do anything to intervene'. They all say that once it is scanned into the Canadian system I will be able to track it on the website which leads me to believe that it is sitting in a bag of other important registered mail in limbo going unnoticed. If it was a bill I wouldn't mind but $140 worth of birth certificates is a bit hard to swallow as it is now affecting my kids vacation.

Just really frustrated that I can't get any ETA from anyone. I know it is not RMs fault but if there is a way that the Airsure shipment could be tracked from UK side that would be good to know as it is seemingly not officially in the Canada Post system yet. thoughts?

If you haven't looked at this page already then http://www.royalmail.com/trackdetails will at least show you each individual tracking event (rather than just the most recent one)
