Special Delivery-passports in it

Post by lmuee01 »

Hi All postmen/postwomen in the forum.

I'm very new here and found this place by googleing solution of my missed Special Delivery next day (1pm) parcel.

I was expecting a Special Delivery yesterday with 2 passports belong to my husband and I. I was at work and my husband at home. I was monitoring the progress on the Royal Mail website by using the tracking number. The status has changed to "Deliveried" by 11.20am ish, called my husband immediately, and was told nothing has arrived at all. Called royal mail right afterwards, was told should wait till 1pm and SD is not allowed to delivery to neighbours.

Anyway, nothing arrived till now. It is still showing "Delieveried" on their website. No Signature available yet. Called royal mail this morning, and was told to wait for 72 hrs for the signature. Trying to call my local delivery office, no answer.

I know I am a nature worrier, but this is really bothering me. I am getting concerns the whereabout of the parcel and what if it cause identify fraud. I am not sure if the 72 hrs counts weekend or not? Is there anything I can do within this 72 hrs apart from waiting? We due to travel next weekend for Christmas, this is really worrying me.

Any advise or opinion are welcome. Thanks so much advance.

The 72 hours is how long it usually takes for the signature to be scanned from a paper copy and uploaded onto the server so 72 hours is normally 3 working days.

As to the actual item, there is a chance that the Office have scanned it as delivered before the Postie has delivered it, and that something has caused him to be delayed. There is a chance that it will turn up this afternoon. If you type the SD number into this audit track and trace it might shed some light. If you want cut and paste the results on here and hopefully we can clarify if anything is unclear (but don't post the SD Number).

Thanks a lot for your reply. I'm not sure what is the audit track and trace? I used another trace and track link found in this website, it shows:
Date Time Status Track point
15/12/11 11:20 DELIVERED15/12/11 ROMFORD PDO
15/12/11 06:48 RECEIVED ATROMFORD PDO ROMFORD PDO
15/12/11 05:25 ON DELIVERY ROMFORD PDO
15/12/11 03:09 DESPATCHABLE TOROMFORD PDO ROMFORD MAIL CENTRE
14/12/11 19:10 DESPATCHABLE TOROMFORD MAIL CENTRE WARRINGTON MAIL CENTRE
14/12/11 18:06 COLLECTED WARRINGTON MAIL CENTRE
The normal trace and track shows :

Your item with reference xxxxxxxxxxx was delivered from our ROMFORD Delivery Office on 15/12/11 .
Thank you for using this service.
We can confirm that this item was delivered before the guaranteed time.
Proof of Delivery is not yet available for this tracking reference

It didn't turn up this afternoon. My husband went in person just now to our local delivery office, as to seen the signature. They refused to give him and told him to wait till it shows online.

I'm very low at the moment. 72hrs seems burning long time for me.

You should try to contact RM on twitter (@RoyalMail) they are an official site and should be able to contact the office to find out what has happened.

It sounds to me that the postie has mis-delivered it

thanks for your advice. I am kind of "old-fashioned". I don't have tweeter yet. hum.. Maybe it's time to get one.

I do suspect that the postie may have mis-read the address. That would be the worst situation can be. Imagine someone sign the parcel and took my passport! :arrrghhh

Hi guys,

I've just called the customer service as I am very much concern now that it could be mis deliveried and someone just took our passports.

As it is identification involved, they gave me an incident number (started with 1-xxxxxx)!? and still asked me to wait till Tuesday (which just about 72hrs from delivery).

I don't know what is more I can do now from my side.

Is it possible you could pop to the delivery office and get them to check for you to see if it's there? We used to get told to mark things as being delivered if we hadn't heard back from the postie that it wasn't delivered. Of course this gave a lot of false results.

If u call to the delivery office again, bring a good means of identification such as drivers license etc,
if your item is there, they won't hand it over otherwise.

Hi guys, thanks for all your kind advices. Custard, Mazza and BettySwollocks. Thanks a lot.

To custard, we are living in a flat. It was a converted flat, we live downstairs as 4a and upstairs as 4b, though it marks very clearly at the entrances (2 different gates) We don't really often have post. We didn't have post on Thursday.

To Mazza and BettySwollocks, My husband went to the Delivery Office on Friday afternoon with his driving licence. Unfortunately, they said it wasn't in the office.

Here is some update.

The RM website still shows signature is not yet available.

I haven't heard anything regarding to the incident raised with the customer services.

I spent whole day on Saturday and Sunday knocked around my neighbourhood. A little more than half of then neighbours answered the door (I gained some popularity I guess), but they didn't receive anything.

I am getting very devastated now. My only hope if this customer services investigation to contact me their resuilt. I was told they should contact me by COB tomorrow after 2 full working days investigation.

Doesn't any postmen/postwomen in this forum does delivery in RM7 area? PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE tell me where did you put my parcel. PLEASE~~~ :cry

Secret Santa was in town!!!! :nana

Hi guys,

Sorry for the late udpate. I am still amazed of what has happend yesterday.

Got a call from RM customer servcie Monday around lunch time and was told they found the signature sheet and would email it to me. It shows someone called Scott signed the parcle and the time was 3pm in the afternoon instead of 11.20am showing on the tracking detail. Panic started as I know nobody calld Scott in the neighbourhood. After talking to my husband, we decided to report lost of passports and apply for new ones (of course cancel our Christmas travel).

Drama started at around 3pm. I received another call from RM customer service, very nice gentlmen. He told me the postie put the parcel through the letter box to 4b instead of 4a (!!!! where does the signature come from then?!!!!). So got hold of my neighbour, was told she won't be back till New Year. Very upset till late evening. Jumpped in the car to buy some milk with my husband and by the time we got home, voila!!! Nice, silverish envelope lay on my hallway :dance

We thought it was our neighbour got someone into her flat and got the parcel for us, so sent "thank you" sms to her. Then got reply, she did NOTHING!!!!
We have no idea where the parcel was. It was miracly appeared from no where through our letterbox while we were out for shopping
Anyway, we are very happy and preparing to set off on Thursday for Christmas as planned. :wave

Thanks to everyone's kind advise in this forum. And wish everyone has great time in Christmas and New Year!

I can answer that
i ye olde 2 delivery days
posties came back with undelivered SDs.and confirmed the delivered/undelivered ones
on routes not using PDAs this system is still used
except it has to be done 'blind' as posties are still on the street

you seem to have suffered a catalogue of errors with this item
i would be fowarding a letter of complaint to the delivery office manager if it were me
