Useless postman
My postman put a card through my door saying he tried to deliver a parcel and it needs collecting from the sorting office , I went 24 hours later and again another 24 hours later and they cant find my parcel , so can I complain that my postman who has personally handled my parcel has either lost it or stolen it . He has had it on his van and it hast been returned to the sorting office for me to collect .

Re: Useless postman
Firstly i would raise it as a complaint rather than accuse someone of being a thief as mud sticks, more likely it's caught in a backlog of packets still to be sorted, ask for a full office search to be done and they will also interview the postie, also is there more than one name at that postal addresss he may have written your name on card rather than theirs in error

Well you can if you want to overreact . Apparently we are now entering the busiest period of the year for Royal Mail - its even got a name "Christmas" - as LDV suggested its probably delayed by the volume of parcels passing through at the moment. Hopefully the office have taken details and will contact you when it turns up.stephenwhite990 wrote:My postman put a card through my door saying he tried to deliver a parcel and it needs collecting from the sorting office , I went 24 hours later and again another 24 hours later and they cant find my parcel , so can I complain that my postman who has personally handled my parcel has either lost it or stolen it . Also your postmen won't be the only person handling it so to accuse him of theft or incompetence without proof is thoughtless especially on a forum for posties.

Re: Useless postman
Or it could have been misfiled, or the wrong information put on the delivery card (therefore on the wrong shelf), or stuck in pouch waiting to be returned from mail centre. There are so many things that it could be. Give them another couple of days, then make a complaint, without making accusations. 9 times out of 10 there's a simple explanation for these things.

maybe in your office
a delayed package doesnt rate searching everywhere in my office
you in a small office?
we are a large office and going through all the packages takes time that's not available most days

Re: Useless postman
Very harsh calling your postie useless i think
He or she has done the correct procedure by posting your card too come and collect your parcel.Like all posties after we've finnished our delivery we return all packets, recorded deliverys, specials etc ... to our callers office within our depot, and we never see the items again.Unless of course a customer requests on the phone to redeliver them.
Lets not be too hasty here on your postie,as basically only handled your packet on his round, not for two days as you say
