Sent a package to Spain by AirSure..

Post by shipmaster122 »

Hi,

On Thursday (22nd Sept), I sent a package to Spain by RM's AirSure service.

It seems to be moving quite quickly at first as by 10:30pm on Thursday night it was showing "at International Mail Centre awaiting despatch to Spain" or something to the same effect. By midday Friday, it was showing "Package X handed over to overseas postal service in SPAIN AND CANARY ISLANDS for overseas delivery".
That is still the current tracking status.

I have tried inputting the tracking number into the Spanish postal services' website (Correos), but it doesn't have any results..
Is this OK?

I was under the impression that AirSure considering I paid over a fiver extra for it would be tracked and signed-for in the destination country?

Airsure® can be up to one day faster than Airmail. Your item will receive priority handling at home and overseas and benefits from an online tracking facility so you can check your mail's progress along the way. We work closely with our international partners to ensure and maintain a high quality of service for our customers. For that reason, Airsure® is only available to selected destinations.
Doesn't sound right, you 'should' be able to track it.
Possibly they over there have not updated it by scanning it as they get it.

Once any trackable item has left RM's system for the system of whatever foreign country they have no control over it. From RM's site - Airsure FAQs:
We track all Airsure® items until they leave the UK. The item is then handed over to the destination country's postal service as a priority item. In most circumstances you will also be able to get electronic confirmation of delivery via Track & Trace.
My guess is that Correos treat any Airsure items that enter their system as recorded delivery but give them higher priority then normal recorded delivery. If you email Correos they should be able to tell you how they handle/treat Airsure items that enter their system

Thanks for both of your replies, I appreciate it.

As far as i'm concerned, the International Signed-For has tracking in the UK and signature on delivery which is what AirSure seems to have done so far.
What is the point in paying more for AirSure rather than signed for (which still tracks in the UK like AirSure!), if you're not going to get tracking in the destination country..

I'll give it a few more days as i'm probabbly expecting too much!! :cuppa

Edit:
Just seen this on the Correos website:
Products with no delivery information available:
Money orders.
International mailings (except for Prisma International Parcel).
If i'd have been told that when sending, i'd have just sent it by AirMail :arrrghhh

if you check the RM site it states no international service guarantees tracking outside the UK
it used to say it did but they changed a year or two back

Just an update. It's now tracking well on the Correos website, so i'm quite pleased.

I think it just took a day or two for it to be first scanned in.

Thanks for your advice anyway.
