HWDC Langley

Post by Soulman »

A small package was posted to me from Kent via International signed for, for delivery to Portugal on Monday this week (27/06). It was received at HWDC at 6:39 on Tuesday morning. as per the tracking information. Since then the package has shown no further movement despite RM Track & Trace stating item passed to overseas shippers for delivery to Portugal. Portugal CTT site shows item still at Langley HWDC.

Is it normal for an item to be subject to a 3 day delay at Langley, when the service offered states 3-5 working days for delivery.

I have checked with CTT regional office here in the Algarve, and they say that the item has definitely not left UK.

Can someone please advise me. Thx.

International signed for is not a tracked service, next time it may be tracked could be after delivery has been attempted

As usual zx135 is 100% correct:

From RM own International Signed for Web Page http://www2.royalmail.com/delivery/deli ... ed/details" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Track & Trace

To ensure fast and secure handling, International Signed For™ items are scanned at the following points in the UK:
Post Office® (for those items paid for and posted at your local branch)
Local mail centres
Royal Mail International processing centres

We are also currently working closely with our overseas partners to improve the availability of Track & Trace information abroad, which is, as yet, not generally available with International Signed For™.
So it sounds as though they have scanned it on to the aircraft (item passed to overseas shippers for delivery to Portugal) and thats the last point until delivery.

Thx for the responses.

So what your saying is that the 13 digit code/number given to me, is scanned when when the item is put onto the aircraft at Heathrow for onward delivery, so as such will no longer be at Langley, and that is what is meant by ' item passed to overseas shippers for delivery to Portugal'. in other words it has definitely left WWDC and been scanned again when put onto the aircraft.

I wonder why Portugal's CTT (Postal System) shows that the package is still at Langley. No other details

Portugal has one of the most efficient and up to date mail tracking systems, and this now has me concerned that the flight it was put on has not arrived in Portugal, or that the cargo never reached the CTT international centre at Lisbon airport.

The plot thickens

Have you tried asking Royal Mail themselves on Twitter? It would be up to the sender to put in a claim for a lost item though with their own postal service, just as you would if you were sending from the UK and it didn't arrive elsewhere.
Does this rag smell of chloroform to you?
