Hi,
I am hoping someone can help me. I sent my phone off to be replaced and the insurance company provided me with a Special Delivery Bag to send it in. When I sent it, I simply handed it through the parcel window and I had to ask the lady for a receipt as she didn't initially give me one. I have never used Special Delivery before so I was not sure what I was supposed to receive from her. A week later I ended up accidentally losing the receipt. I sent it on about the 19th April and because I had not heard anything from my insurance company, I rang them today. They said they have not received anything, but because I do not have the receipt they can't track it. I also rang royal mail and they said the same thing. I find it very odd, as the lady in the post office only gave me one because I asked her for one, so does this honestly mean that I can not do anything or claim any loss without that one receipt? Surely there is another way to track the item somehow or I am eligible to claim from someone with them having lost it as it is not my fault yet I am suffering!? The contents lost were around £500!
I hope someone can help as I am really upset and worried about this.
Thanks
Sarah

Pop back to the Post Office they may just remember you and be able to give you the tracking number.
However, it's not guaranteed that they can or will do so to help them be super polite, and try to work out what time and date you went it will make it easier and more likely they can help.

The receipt you have will have had the tracking number on it. This is the number that will be needed to track the item. Depending on how many counter staff there were that day, they may be able to check their specials book and check against the address it was sent to to find the tracking number. Again, this is time consuming and they may not be happy to do so. Especially if it's a main PO with a lot of windows.
