International signed for - 2 weeks and still not left UK ???

Post by drock »

I posted an envelop using "International Signed for" and the status on tracking hasn't changed since the day after I posted.,.

For tracking RI328815692GB it says "We have received your item, posted on 14/12/10 and it is being processed for delivery abroad"

I know there have been delays, but from the above message it seems like it's not even left UK yet... how can it take 2+ weeks to leave UK ?? Few days ago, I posted another envelop which changed it's status in 2 days to "has been passed to the overseas postal service for delivery in INDIA".. why would the second take weeks to leave UK ?

Or is it possible that it left UK and transferred to the Indian postal system but not scanned ?? The tracking number is not showing in Indian postal system either, whereas the earlier one did !

Guess it could have been caught in a mail bag or held up with the weather. Wasn't it 2 weeks ago where very few planes were leaving? Could be wrong of course. Customer Services is your best bet m8. Believe they will be able to look into it, good luck trying to get through to them

It wouldn't surprise me, if it's somewhere in the backlog. Particularly as there were so many problems with closed Airports. I know it's no consolation to you. But hopefully, it will at least help knowing why it hasn't left the UK yet. As far as I know, there isn't any more of the severe weather expected for a while. So it shouldn't be long before it gets put on a flight.

Thanks.. there were some deadlinks on the RM website but after some tries I was able to get to the "Contact Us" page...

It's 11PM so I just sent an email to RM

Will call first thing in the moring tomorrow.. I just hope they can track down the envelop instead just reading the status from the "track and trace" which I can also do.

Here's the update (Just so in future someone with same issue gets help from here)

While I was worried about the letter not having left UK seeing that status... it was lying in the letter box at the destination address in India !!

Surprising is that these letters are given at the door as a signature is mandatory, but on this one, there was no such thing.. I don't who to blame for the status still showing "being processed", it depends where the scan is done, whether it's done in UK upon sent by RM or in India upon receipt bu IPS.

Anyway, I am glad it reached... but from now onwards, I will not waste my night's sleep on a unreliable status on RM's track and trace "International Signed For" service

Is it possible to obtain the outbound flight details for an International Signed For item? Time, carrier, flight number?

An ISF item I sent flew from Heathrow on 16/12/10 but the receiving country's post service (Czech Post) say it is not in the country at all. I could do with a few facts before I chase it up further.

in the system u only get to see the fact that its been "handed over" to Czech post... that's the last status you see...it doesn't get updated upon delivery either unless its airsure..

i dont know if you can get flight info by calling them or not

I'm in US. Waiting for RM shipment. It's registered, so I am assuming it's international signed for.
Anyways...the status still hasn't changed. Still says RJ746294129GB posted 29/12/10 for shipment. ANd of course US postal says same thing. I still haven't recieved it and it's been 16 days. Last time I recieved a Royal Mail parcel, the status changed in about two days.
I ahve emailed them and they don't respond. I can't call international, so I can't talk to them. But no matter what, it hasn't changed.

Is this usuall for a parcel to take THIS long??

This may have some affect on the item (from RM's website http://www.royalmail.com/portal/rm/cont ... 88#1600085 )
North America (USA & Canada)

USA
Start date: 18th November
End date: Ongoing

Increased security measures delays some mail to USA

Since November 2010, the United States Department of Homeland Security has increased security measures for items carried on passenger airlines. As a result, mail entering the US from around the world, and including the UK, that would normally be sent via passenger aircraft must now travel by other means, including ships and cargo planes.

Most items, including personal letters and cards, will arrive in the US within a few days of posting. The vast majority of Christmas cards and gifts posted prior to the last recommended posting date of 10th December will have arrived in the US in time for Christmas. However, these ongoing security issues, combined with the impact of recent severe weather on the movement of mail throughout the UK, are continuing to cause delays to some items bound for the US. The delays mainly affect heavier items, but also affect other items including Destination Sort bags posted under contract by business customers. We’re really sorry for these unavoidable delays and are doing everything we can to keep mail moving out of and into the UK.

We have implemented a number of contingency plans to ensure as much of our customers’ mail reaches the US as quickly as possible. Handling significantly increased volumes of mail at this festive time along with the complexity of reacting at pace to contingency arrangements, means we’re unable to track individual items for customers or identify exactly when in the current arrival patterns deliveries are likely to take place.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and are continuing to work to minimise disruption to our customers, whilst ensuring we comply fully with the US directives and regulations.

------

USA - North America
Start date: 10th January
End date:

The United States Postal Service (USPS) has declared a Force Majeure which commenced on Monday 10th January 2011 due to the continued heavy snow and high wind alerts crossing the Southeast, Midwest, and travelling up the Northeast region of the US impacting in and outbound mail flows. There will be delays to inbound and outbound mail services in affected areas.

Also...

United States

We have been advised that the second major snow storm of the winter blanketed the North East United
States earlier this week. This is expected to continue to affect Boston and the New England states. The
Southwest continues to recover from weather related impacts as a result of severe winter weather. In
particular deliveries have been affected in Alabama.
Many internal flights have been cancelled and road conditions are described as poor. Deliveries will
therefore be badly affected. In the areas concerned.

So do you think that it's really on it's way and just delayed because of weather? RM and of course USPS site still remains unchanged.

Postman.... do you work for RM? Is this how you know it is on its way? Or just an assumption. I'm kinda scared that it got seized. It's medication that I take that is WAY cheaper in UK than here in the states. By almost 400 dollars. I have no insurance so I usually order overseas. Some places I've had seized, but last time I ordered UK, it didn't. So Was hoping that this wasnt the case either. And it came in like 8 days last time. So, going on day 17, really hurts.

Hopefully it will show up soon. I do, I've already ran out of my meds, and I'm in Texas. I live right across the border of Mexico, but the violence there is so bad, I* dont want to go. End up like those on the news where they find my headless body. No thank you!!
