Royal Mail breaks my 5 year old's heart

Post by Devon Devil »

I order a large present for my 5 year olds birthday on 29 Nov 2010, I have been tracking it, and since the 4th Dec 2010 it is still being "processed" in a Scotish sorting office, I have tried contacting the Royal Mail but only get given another number to ring, and then another number ........ :evil/mad I appreciate that the weather has been bad, but according to their own website (link: http://www.royalmail.com/portal/rm/cont ... aignid=USO" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) bad weather is not an exception for them not to deliver. I trust that Royal Mail will be compensenting all their customers that the weather effects? But can anyone tell me the price for Royal Mail put on breaking a five year olds heart? :cry

We are not alone...
How weather has affected online shopping for Scotland

Tesco Direct has stopped taking orders
Sainsbury's has suspended deliveries
Asda Direct not delivering large items and has stopped orders for in-store collection before Christmas
Parcel Force has suspended deliveries
Firebox cannot guarantee next-day delivery
Boots has suspended next-day deliveries
M&S not accepting home delivery orders
Home Delivery Network deliveries "limited" or later than normal
River Island unable to take new orders. Current orders taking seven-14 days to arrive
Virgin and Laithwaites wine companies cannot guarantee deliveries before Christmas
Courier Yodel battling to clear 14-day backlog
Boots has also suspended its next day service, although the chain's store collection and standard home delivery services are still available.

And Marks & Spencer are not accepting any home delivery orders for Scotland, due to a week-long backlog.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

I have just rang Royal Mail, after waiting half an hour I finally got through to a young lady, who was unable to give me any more information than what I can get using the tracking code online, what a waste of time! come on Royal Mail all I want is an update more recent than 10 days ago! I now have very little confidence that I will ever receive this order, no one in Royal Mail seems to care, they would not tell me where in Scotland the parcel is or give me their contact number (the only place that could actually confirm that after 10 days my sons birthday present has not been lost or stolen). So anyone with a missing package don't bother to contact Royal Mail their Customer Services seems to lack the skills to give Customer Service. :evil/mad I have now contacted Amazon and they were far more helpful, I have been informed that the Tracking system has not been updated by Royal Mail (Not a big suprise) and that my son's present is on it's way to Devon and I should have it on or before 17th otherwise they will replace it free of charge on next day delivery - but not going anywhere near Scotland! Now why couldn't Royal Mail tell me that if an outside Company can?

The Parcel has finally arrived :Very Happy.

Thank you all for your comments I will certainly be sending an email to the address given.

I would also add that my upset/frustration/anoyance is not with the Posties, I appreciate their hard work in all weathers! But the lack of information supplied by the Customer Services department at the Royal mail, they need to revise their training, teach their staff to be sympathetic not aguementative and overhaul their shambolic system, It is very frustrating to be on hold for half an hour to be told nothing, if the annoying telephone message that repeats whilst your on hold actually advised their Customers that they are wasting their time holding because Customer Services can't tell you anything other than what you can view on the internet. I would add that the tracking service is also rubbish because as of this morning my parcel was still in Scotland being processed - it did very well to make it to Devon by lunchtime! The whole systems seems to be a shambles!

I know a lot of posties that agree wholly with this comment.
