What's going on in Leicester?
Does anyone have a handle on the current state of (the normally excellent) deliveries in the Leicester area? I am awaiting a parcel that was posted in Peterborough on Monday by First Class recorded delivery. Its now Saturday and hasn't arrived, yet other parcels posted this week have arrived. Is it possible that my item is held up because it is a recorded delivery item? I complained to the sender that it should have been sent by Special Delvery as its value was £300, but his response was that RM have withdrawn the next day guarantee. Unfortunately the tracker on the RM website only gives info after delivery and when I tried ringing the local sorting office, they were too busy to answer and I had to leave a message.

You were right...he was wrong.Andyclockwise wrote:I complained to the sender that it should have been sent by Special Delvery as its value was £300, but his response was that RM have withdrawn the next day guarantee.
Special Delivery is not just about guaranteed next day delivery,it will also mean that your parcel is insured for it's full value.
Unlike Recorded Delivery it moves through the system independently of the huge amount of ordinary parcels we are having to deal with at the moment and it can be tracked right through the system from start to finish unlike a Recorded which is only tracked at point of delivery.
As far as your parcel is concerned it will not be held up by being a Recorded but it won't receive any priority either.
I'm afraid it is caught up in what is the busiest two weeks of the year for us but i'm sure that your local D.O. will be doing there best to get it to you if they have it.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Re: What's going on in Leicester?
Thanks for the replies guys. We've had no interruptions to the service here, and been getting 2 or 3 deliveries of post each day, even when it was really icy, even though we live on a residential close that wasn't gritted. I have a lot of respect for the local post staff here, they do a great job. Most of the stuff I've oredered in the last week has now arrived except for this one item that has (I guess) either got lost or is stuck in the network somewhere. The sender has offered to resend it if not arrived by Monday and worry about the consequences of doing that later.
