Collecting mail during snow
Whilst appreciating how difficult it can be delivering mail in snow it is still frustrating to not get parcels when you know they're in the postal system somewhere. Is it possible to collect mail direct from the sorting office? I know people have in the North-East with proof of address- but is that solely due to the heavy snow up there? I live in Derby, and have only had one delivery in use last week

Re: Collecting mail during snow
I'm sure it will be ok to collect your post with ID but if I were you I would try and ring first. Your parcels may not even be in the Delivery Office yet due to the weather conditions, depends on where they were posted from as they may still be stuck in that area.
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet

Or maybe in the delivery office amongst thousands of others, yet to be sorted. Therefore impossible to find.
Been no deliveries in our office for 2 days, we have managed to fix the packets into walks, and if we know what way the item is sent, we're being rather successful at finding them for customers.
As Stormproof said, better to check ahead and see what's there waiting for you :)

At my office they allow people to come in and collect, make sure you take ID.
To be fair also we have a lot of parcels in bags untouched so you might want to ring first and see if your postman can have a look through and see if it's there if it's a parcel you are waiting for. The hardest part will be getting a manager to pick up the phone.
