Hello
I got one of those Royal Mail cards through my letterbox this past Sunday (05/12) (which is strange for a start as I didn't know they delivered post on a Sunday). I didn't hear anyone knocking but anyway, they left a card for a package that was too big to post etc.
So on the same day (Sunday 05/12) I arranged for re-delivery for today via the Royal Mail website (it asked when the card was left and only had the options for Friday or Saturday, I just put Saturday). But the re-delivery hasn't appeared today. Whats my best bet of getting the item now? As something like this happened in the past and in the end they said they lost the item and I never received what I had ordered, and I don't want that to happen again. So yeah, I was just looking for some advice on whether it's a good idea to go into the sorting office or give it another day for the re-delivery? It said I can pick the item up after 24 hours on the card, which has well past as that was on Monday.
Thanks.

Re: Item re-delivery question
It takes up to 48hours for your request to reach the delivery office. They obviously have a backlog in your area as you received the card on Sunday. I'm guessing you will get your item tomorrow depending on the weather.

Best bet would be to call the number on the card and ask if redelivery has been arranged if not then I would go and collect.
TBH if they were delivering on a Sunday I would think you are in an area affected by snow last week, some of these areas are still suffering and are trying to get the back log down. If that is the case then re-deliveries are not treated as much of a priority as normal, they will try their best but if they have a lot of tracked and special deliveries then they take priority over everything.

Re: Item re-delivery question
Ok, I just contacted my local delivery office, the guy said he would try and find out what's happening with the package and ring me back, what are the chances that he's actually going to ring me back now? Because as soon as he said that I thought to myself that I won't get a response here.

Re: Item re-delivery question
The guy did ring back and say that apparently it was out for re-delivery yesterday but because there was so many to deliver it didn't end up arriving. He said it could turn up today, if not, ring back tomorrow and he will get the manager on it and they will have a manual search for the package and if they find it I can arrange a pick up.
I'm hoping either it turns up later today as theres been no sign so far, or that they can find it tomorrow, as I'm getting the feeling of a repeat of when I had a parcel go missing earlier this year.

t's like that at my office too, so many packets to catch up and only can fit so many in our bags. They are getting drivers to work on a sunday to clear the backlog but it may take another week because this week has been spent catching up on backlogged mail. I will defend RM and sa this is just a bad unfortunate time and usually it would be a lot quicker and easier. If you live close enough I'd pop in and get it but if not it should come in the next couple of days. If they give it to the driver and tell him you'd appreciate it delivered tomorrow you might get lucky.

Re: Item re-delivery question
Ok, still no delivery as of this evening, I spoke to the guy at the delivery office again today and he said he would have a look for the package, he rang me back a couple of hours later and said he couldn't find it and it's most likely on a van somewhere...
Also, I just noticed on the card they posted through this past Sunday that whoever wrote it actually put the wrong first three characters of the postcode, well, the first two (the letters) are right but the number is wrong, they have put a number 5 instead of 4. But they delivered it to my house so I'm assuming thats just some mess up on their part.
But yeah, my hopes of getting this package through are growing smaller and smaller as the week goes on, the fact that it's 'on a van somewhere' doesn't give me much hope. Why can't whoever is driving the van just put it back in the damn delivery office so I can pick it up.
