Post redirection & surnames

Post by ClaireLinners »

Hi, hoping for a bit of advice!

I'm due to move house on Friday and have set up redirection for my current surname for a year. However, I only got married last year and occasionally get post in my maiden name. Seems to me that in order to have mail addressed to my old name delivered to my new address, I'd have to pay another £39?

Does this sound right, because it seems a bit nuts to me (considering you can add up to 8 people with the same name)? Or is there some way of including a previous surname in the application?

Cheers in advance! X

Have you tried registering as Nee

Rg. Claire Linners (nee Jackson) - and then in comments section add - Please redirect all mail for either surname Linners or Jackson)

Dont know if they would accept it but its worth a try. :Very Happy

Ha thanks TrueBlue, I did try to hyphenate my surname (as I thought it might work and make me sound posh) but unfortunately it wouldn't accept my husband then, and tried to charge me double to keep him added. :(

The other "highly unofficial" way is if you get on with your Postie ask them if they are willing to redirect all mail for both names - although this has obvious problems and as its unofficial they may refuse (hopefully politely)

Ah, I think our posties, although lovely, change fairly regularly and I wouldn't want to make anything awkward. I'll just ask our buyers to ring me if anything comes through. Although I'm a bit disappointed that there was no option on the application. What if you cohabit? £78 is excessive in my humble opinion!

Thanks for your help tho'! x
