First Class recorded Package help needed.
Hi there, just joined this forum today to request a little help with a dilemma I am having, I sold an item on ebay and posted it via First Class Recorded on the 23rd August I have now received a message from the buyer to say that she never received the package as she went away so it is now being returned to me, the thing is I can't remember if I put a return address on the back so how will it get back to me?
it was quite heavy and cost a bit to post although she has agreed to pay for the return postage back to her seeing as it wasn't my fault

Re: First Class recorded Package help needed.
Hi
If you have the item number ( I assume you do) you could try the track and trace on the royal mail website, this would tell you a) whether it is on its way back to you (RTS) or b) whether you forgot to put a return address on it and it is going to our returns centre in belfast (RLB)
If it is the latter then it could take a while i'm afraid - they usually take a month or so due to the sheer volume of packets with no return address on them - the item would then be opened to try and find any trace of the owner
I cannot stress enough to anyone posting anything - put a return address on!!
Hope this helps

Hi many thanks for the reply, yes I feel a bit of a numpty not putting a return address on! though I am usually quite good at these things
I have checked the item number on the website and it does say the item is being returned to sender so perhaps I did? though I was thinking wouldn't it be easier that it is just returned to her now that she is back from being away or does it not work like that? thank you!

Larissa if you included details in the parcel of your own address (headed paper etc) then RLB in Belfast who are in a secure area open the item up to see if they can find details and then will send it on to you.
I would say that if you have not seen it, or had a note through the door in about a week call 0845745745 (Customer Services) explain the problem and give them a good description of the packaging and whatever is inside and they will pass the details to RLB who will try to match it to your parcel.

If it says return to sender on the track and trace then it's likely there was an address to return it to. Otherwise it would say forwarded to RLB. There are different codes to use depending on where it's going.Larissa wrote:Many thanks for the help everyone I will call that number next week if I haven't heard.
That's of course if the person doing the scanning knows what they're doing...
Plus, even though it's been "killed off" and scribbled over and circled etc., it'll probably still end up going back to the original D.O. because the MCs seem to like doing that sometimes...
