Never experienced such a bad mail service

Post by lake »

I think I'm one of the lucky people who have always had great posties, have known them all by name and could count them on one hand, watched them grow old and retire, made them a christmas cake each year and made jam for them each summer - that is until this last year.

Now I cant fully blame my current postman for my mail woe's since I dont have 'A' current postman - I have many, often a different face each day of the week, which is a shame cos I simply cant afford to make that many christmas cakes  so, my rant is aimed at one, all or anyone within Royal Mail who might care to reflect on the cause for my woes.....

My woe's are.......

I bought a new house, the guy who I bought from paid for a mail redirection for a year - good job Royal Mail for redirecting MY mail to this guy as well HIS mail. I ring the local sorting office to alert them - wont happen again, but it does.
I complain to customer services over the phone - the promised response just doesnt materialise - no response at all.
I write to complain and finally get the response 'I have spoken to the delivery centre manager who assures me that your mail will be correctly redirected in future' ..... wait! no! stop!!!! I dont want you to redirect my mail, I didnt pay for redirection....did you even read my complaint???

Junk mail......

I know you get paid to deliver junk mail to me, but can anyone explain to me why I get the same junk mail 5 days in a row? An example is a free newspaper sent out by our county council monthly - I get the same newspaper from my postmen 5 days straight, Im guessing that means that there are 4 other houses who didnt get the free paper, the county council didnt get the delivery service it paid for (ie one paper per household) and I cant tell you how happy I am that ultimately it's me thats paying for the damn paper to be made, delivered and I get the pleasure of having to recycle junk that by rights should never have been pushed through my door :evil/mad

Lazy, lazy, lazy postie......

The one postie who refuses to walk 15 feet from the road to my door and insists on sticking my mail under the gate handle, from where it can be taken, rained on until it is ruined or just blown down the street . There are no obstacles, locked gates, steps, uneven ground, dogs, tigers or man eating children and as far as I can see....... no excuses

I didnt come here expecting any sort of resolution for my woe's...I came here to tell you how truely saddened I am that the once great Royal Mail is such a shockingly unreliable service provider and one, that while I do use, I would prefer not to use anymore

This is the future of ROYAL MAIL. When the tories privatise this company the service will only get worse with higher stamp prices and the only thing that matters is profit.

Boy that is a poor catalogue of service and I bet most posties on here have recognised the cause. Your address sounds like its on a permanently Lapsed duty which is why you see different posties each day. Or its one that's being done on overtime.

That would explain the "junk mail" which we call D2D it sounds like they are all taking out the same street whenever they do it.

You have it right about the lazy postie and quite frankly he should not be leaving it in your gate. He should deliver it to a recognised delivery point, or if they believe its not safe to deliver, then they should endorse the mail with the reason why and then return it to the office so that delivery can be attempted the next day

The redirection failure may be best sorted by the previous owner contacting RM Customer service direct.

There is another way that all of this might be sorted, and that is writing a letter to the Delivery Office Manager (DOM) of the Delivery Office responsible for your address and include a cc (carbon copy) to

Moya Greene
Royal Mail
148 Old Street
London
EC1V 9HQ

You will be able to get the delivery offices address with a google or google maps search.

that should get it sorted especially when a manager sees our New Bosses name on the letter :left:

BTW you should not have to accept a poorer service just because they think its a more efficient way of delivering the post and I am sorry that you have received such a bad service.

I'm amazed that their just leaving the post under your gate handle
The next time you talk to a manager ask him for his name and tell him that you have video footage of your postman leaving your post in an unsecure location, and as he does not seem capable of preventing this from happening again, you intend on sending the video to BBC's Watchdog programme along with his name, see if he does anything then. :whistle

If you are tired of receiving the un-addressed mail there is a Royal Mail Opt out service

http://www.royalmail.com/portal/rm/cont ... aId=500081

The above link will get the process started. They will have to send out some forms for you to complete but after that the pizza, insurance & double glazing leaflets should all stop.

Royal Mail will probably start the scare tactics and say that you may miss out on 'local government information,' this is rubbish! Anything that is 'public service information,' such as the recent Digital TV Switchover booklet, is not covered by the opt out scheme and must be delivered to all addresses.

Many thanks - great information there, perhaps I'm one of the few people who dont mind 'junk mail', I just object strongly to having my neighbours junkmail, my next door but one, two and three neighbours junk mail or anyone elses junk mail the postman confuses with mine  Still, great info, thanks.

Lake,ignore Partick AND the link!
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
