missing parcel
I ordered an item over the internet, paid £28 for it, which is a lot for me because I'm on benefits. I live in south London. The parcel was posted in Birmingham on 30th September, but I've not yet received it!!! I contacted the supplier & they gave me a tracking number for it. I went to the Royal Mail website & typed in the tracking number, all I got was a message saying 'it's being processed through the system', or words to that effect. The item is a costume for a Halloween party I'm going to, so if it doesn't arrive by 31st October then obviously it will be obselete. I'm so frustrated.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

There is a backlog but I would think it should arrive before Halloween.

IT GETS WORSE
I live at number 142, for some reason I don't know, the parcel has been addressesd to number 130! So it's currently lost & due to be delivered [if it's ever delivered] to the wrong address. I phoned Royal Mail & got through to a very patronising man, who told me that I can't change the address & it has to be deivered to 130. I'm so bloody angry about this. I shall never order anything over the internet again - if the item isn't available to buy in a shop then forget it.
I've now got to go & pop a note through 130's door, I don't know them - just hope that they're reasonable people.

dont be put off by buying things on the internet, usually they go smoothly. It's more than likely it has been delivered to 130 or will be delivered to them soon.

If your postie is a regular on the round, knows you and is not a complete jobsworth he might deliver it to you anyway. (I would to customers I know well).spaniel-lover wrote:I live at number 142, for some reason I don't know, the parcel has been addressesd to number 130! I get quite a few Birthday/Xmas cards to an old couple on my walk that are wrongly addressed, but I deliver them to the right house. Strictly speaking it's against RM policy though, as posties aren't allowed to think for themselves.

Re: missing parcel
So it was the sellers fault for addressing it incorrectly.
Unfortunately the delivery postie does have to deliver it to the address on the item.
Hopefully you will be able to get it from No 130. If not you need to contact the seller
and get them to send you a replacement or a refund - it is their fault.

Re: IT GETS WORSE
My manager actually recommended I do it when I had a RTS packet that did not have the full address but I had recognised the name.bitchface wrote:and against the lawOnAFlyer wrote:spaniel-lover wrote: Strictly speaking it's against RM policy though, as posties aren't allowed to think for themselves.but we all do it..

The plot thickens
I've had an email off the sender who is now saying that they think they've sent it to 14! They also said that they're going to send out a replacement, & then chase up RM for the original. My postman knows I'm waiting for a parcel, as I saw him in the street & spoke to him about it.

Re: missing parcel
There is a 142A, when the previous tenants lived there, I was always getting their mail. They were foreign & I think the 'A' often got lost in translation, so it was their fault not the postman's - but maybe the postman could've used some common sense? Although it was through me accidentally opening their mail that I discovered scams/fraud that they were up to, & thus I was able to alert the relevant authorities.

Re: missing parcel
'Using common sense' is not that easy when you have 8 bags of mail to deliver to 750 houses in 3 1/2 hours. Your postman does not, I repeat does not have time to check vaguely addressed letters anymore. He/she used to but the workload has trippled in the past 10 years and the service is suffering because of that not because posties have no common sense. Thankyou, and...goodnight.

Re: missing parcel
So the sender thinks they sent it to 130...or maybe it was 14?! They gave you a tracking number, but how do you know that tracking number is for your packet? It could be for anything. Personally I'd ask for my money back ASAP and look for an alternative. Not much posties can do with senders like that.
