Saturday afternoon collection in central London?

Post by snakebait »

Hi guys

I forgot to post my sister's birthday card, her birthday is on Monday. So I need to find a postbox that has a collection this afternoon!

I live in Paddington (W2) and am currently sitting at work in Baker Street (W1).

The post box round the corner tells me there's a 7pm collection in Rathbone Place but when I came on the net to search to see if Paddington station had a similar late collection - which would be so much easier for me - I kept finding stuff about there being strikes in central London at the moment. I don't want to flog all the way over to Tottenham Court Road only to find the damn thing's nailed shut and I needn't have bothered because nothing's going anywhere anyway!

So, is there a strike or was that old news?

And does anyone know whether there is a Saturday afternoon collection in Paddington?

Thanks muchly!

West Lon wasn't out as far as i'm aware,i think you've blown it though.

The only boxes that will me done that late are Mail Centres.

Yeah, I had a feeling I'd messed up. My own fault for forgetting - well, not so much forgetting but I assumed I still had plenty of time. It was only when I got to the post box at about 2pm that I saw the last collection was midday. I didn't even know there were no longer collections on Sundays, that's how long it is since I've sent something at the last minute!

Ah well... she'll just have to kill me...

Thanks for your help. :)

We did try and fight the removal of Sunday collections (and for that matter the earlier and earlier collection times) but RM management just plowed ahead anyway to earn themselves a few more bonuses.

:Applause And it'll be the same this time round, they'll go on about the dispute only being about pay when it is about out terms and conditions.

This annoys ,e every time they make it look like we are striking for more money, even this time i've lost count of the amount of customers i've had to put right, why isn't HQ challenging the media on this.

Rathbone Place (W1) was on strike on Friday and Saturday.
Bit late now, but there were collections in the EC postcodes until 1900.
