Hello I'm wondering if I could have some advice please
I was due to receive a parcel this morning and have been waiting by the door. I then received a notification saying the item had been delivered, and a signature was provided by the postman himself, with the package obviously not arriving.
I then received an update saying the parcel was being returned to sender. The "proof of delivery" provided was a picture of the front of a house I've never seen before in my life, and is 100% not on my street as all the houses look the same, and this one had a set of double doors.
I then contacted the sender ( ASDA Online Doctor) and they confirmed my address as being the one given. The problem is the item I'd ordered was a prescription and they cannot refund or take the item back once the medication has been dispensed, so have asked me to recieve compensation from Royal Mail or track the parcel down.
Any advice? Where is my parcel and why was it attempted to be delivered and signed for by the postman at a wrong address?

Re: Never received order
Does the tracking state the reason for it being returned to sender?

Re: Never received order
Yes it says recipient refused delivery. Which makes sense if they tried delivering to that house because I've no idea where it is. Certainly not on my street or nearby. I triple checked the order and invoice to make sure I gave the right address, and ASDA confirmed it. So I'm not really sure what to do now

Unfortunately not. Just a picture of the postman holding the parcel up in front of what appears to be a large house not in my immediate area, and a signature from the postman. Thanks for the reply. I've emailed royal mail but I'll probably call them in the morning

Re: Never received order
That's what I tried to explain. Originally the tracking said that it was delivered, with a picture of the postie holding up the package in front of someone's door. About 5 minutes later, the tracking said it was refused and returned to sender.
I think it'd possible the postie saw someone come to the door, hit delivered and took the picture, then the person who answered obviously had no idea about the parcel or the name on it, so the postman changed it to refused.
The tracking number is JT785629819GB.

Re: Never received order
Very possible. I've done this recently for a Tracked parcel. Knocked, took the photo when the door was opened and sent the info off. When you're doing this 100 or more times a day it becomes an automatic process. Turns out I was at the right address but the item was for the new resident who hadn't moved in yet and the current resident didn't want to take responsibilty for it as they were vacating the premises the next day. I tried again the following day and the next with no answer so the tracking will show delivered (with photo), refused, delivery attempted, delivery attempted and held at callers office.
The thing is you say you've checked the address with the sender. This doesn't add up as surely the person where delivery was attempted pointed out the postie was at the wrong address in which case it's simply a case of delivering to the correct address, even if it's the next day. To get a scan saying returned to sender indicates the postie did go to the address on the packet in which case you need to contact the sender and get them to resend it when they get it back or send another now from stock. It's their job to claim compensation from Royal Mail if it's RM's fault.
The issue of the postie signing for things themselves is another story. Loads of posties do it and openly admit it. I don't see why they do this or what they gain from it. They used to say it means you take out less the following day as you have fewer items for second attempt but Royal Mail will load you up with more than you can do every day anyway so it doesn't matter if it's the first attempt, second or fifth!
