The Vanishing Parcel: A Lost Delivery Mystery, The Case of UB813451884GB

Post by saumunda »

The parcel, entrusted to Royal Mail, was dispatched with tracking number UB813451884GB. Initially, the updates seemed promising—scanned at various checkpoints, making its way through the logistics maze. But then, suddenly… silence.

A week passed. Then two. The tracking page remained frozen, refusing to budge beyond a vague, cryptic message that the parcel was in transit but had yet to be delivered.

Concerned, I contacted Royal Mail’s customer service. After a long wait on hold, a representative assured him, “It’s probably delayed due to a backlog. Give it a few more days.”

But days turned into weeks, weeks into 3 months. Still nothing.

With no updates and no resolution, my mind spun with possibilities:

Lost in a warehouse – Maybe it was stuck in a sorting facility, misplaced on a forgotten shelf.
Delivered to the wrong address – A slim possibility, but Saurabh checked with neighbors. No luck.
Stolen or tampered with – A rare occurrence, but not impossible.
Returned but unscanned – Could it be in limbo, sitting in an undelivered mail pile somewhere?

None of these theories offered a clear path forward. With no return-to-sender scan.

Months later, the case remained unsolved. Despite multiple escalations and countless emails, Royal Mail could confirm the parcel’s fate. I was left fighting for his refund, caught in the bureaucratic tangle of logistics.

To this day, tracking number UB813451884GB remains a digital ghost—marked as "in transit" but never arriving, never returning.

A lost parcel, a lost phone, and an ongoing battle for justice.

Your last sentence gives an idea of possible problems 'a lost phone' - India have particular requirements when sending mobile phones there. Did you put the IMEI number on the outside of the package, with electronics declaration and customs form?

Any of these things could have prevented it getting there. The Royal Mail tracking only says it was picked up from Sheffield and then nothing else. How do you know it got to India?

The batteries in mobile phones are subject to very strict laws under the Dangerous Goods Act. A failure to follow those laws could lead to the outcome you describe. Was there a battery in or with the phone?

Sent International Standard not Signed For which will not update tracking once left the UK.

India Post shows they tried to deliver on January 1st 2025 unsuccessfully.

The OP hi-jacked another thread a couple of weeks ago. The item is RTS so will no doubt take some time to get back to them (after re-clearing security and customs checks).

While you've made the story interesting, if your goal was to draw the attention of Royal Mail to the saga, this site may not be the best choice. We are not an authorized Royal Mail site; in fact, this platform was initially created for posties to seek guidance and share their experiences.

If publicity was your intention, you may want to consider finding another avenue.
