Entrance to customer property

Post by CheesersNo1 »

I would like to know what the rules are for Royal Mail delivery staff when a customer has provided a postbox outside a gate and a video doorbell.

Are Royal Mail Deliveries allowed to open the gate to gain further access to the property if there is no answer?

That is a legal question, and as most on here are posties, it would probably be better if you contacted Royal Mails own Lawyers at HQ.

However, we are told that we have an "Implied right of access" when delivering mail, and apparently, there is a legal way of you "Removing the right of implied access"

Though to be honest if you ever do get an answer I would like to know myself.

On a side note: Most posties I know wouldn't go beyond the delivery point, and would leave a card if there wasn't an answer. If what you describe has happened I can only think the postie was going above and beyond.
