Well it's a fair point. My work is hard and tiring but I love it. I really enjoy what I do and being my own boss. My main gripe against what's going on with RM is that I do all sorts of things in a day or a week, some of which I have already mentioned which don't pay me to do them but I have to do them. I have pressure from some very difficult customers and some unreliable suppliers who always have to be managed with professionalism and courtesy. I have thieves who try and rip me off through the many wonderful ways there are of doing such things when shopping online. I have to compete with cut throat and illegal businesses that don't pay tax or are not registered for VAT, while I do everything the right way.Hugh_G_Rection wrote: I don't wish to be rude, but all i've heard from a lot of customers in this current dispute is " Lazy Postmen" "Don't know your Born" etc etc. The best one of course is " if you don't like your job then leave". If your job is as hellish as you lay out in your post then why do it?. Why not get yourself a cushy little number - a postman perhaps. Just a thought.
I have no days off (easy day today though and thanks to you guys I may at least get 2 half days Thurs-Fri
These are just a small sample of the problems I face daily and then I hear my whole business, everything I have worked hard to achieve is going to get hit for the 2nd time in 2 years at the worst possible time of year for me and at the worst possible time for the economy for all of us and there is absolutely NOTHING I can to do help it or avoid it. For my size and weight items I cannot post with a courier unless I want to lose money on every item I sell. I don't have a union. All I've got is Peter bloody Mandelson
I don't doubt for a second that there are problems at RM. Crozier taking £3 million out of a failing company is something I'll stand by you on but I just dn't think any good can and will come of this. I just fear it's going to make the situation worse for everyone involved.
And about delivery times. I honestly don't care what time I get my post. I always think about it arriving on a given day not a given time. I've not experienced 1 single inconveniance from my post arriving later. I'm sure some may have but I don't think it bothers anywhere near the majority.
And as I mentioned before I used to work for Sky. I had to climb ladders, go on roofs, carry dishes and an electric drill up a ladder in the cold, wind snow and rain. Bad weather wasn't an excuse for a day off. I know what it's like working hard outside in the cold. Believe me I have done many sh*t jobs in sh*t conditions for sh*t money.
And as I said before if I lost my business and RM had jobs going. I'd apply and take it happily knowing at least I had a wage when 3 million don't right now.
