We don't mind Ryan, we understand that you were pissed and rightly so, we understand that after the comments you recieved here that not all posties are bad and have swayed your opinion. Seriously follow it up cos it might haunt you for ages. If sony can trace it then you might be in luck.

Re: Which one of you....
Anybody know the legality of reporting a lost mail item as stolen? I fear this is going to be my struggle.
It's the chicken/egg scenario:
>>>>----Police won't authorize trace unless can be proved it was stolen----->>> ]
^ ..........................................................................................V
^ ...............................ME= :( ...................................................V
^ .........<<<<<<Can't prove it was stolen until the trace..........<<<<<<<<..... ]

Re: Which one of you....
No, it never occured to me, that there could be a problem. Surely, it's a reasonable assumption that either the recipient has recieved it, and lied about not getting it. Or it was stolen en-route. If it's only missing, and threfore not stolen, there'll be no evidence of a thief. That's why IB always use "test Mail" during their investigations. Then again, I'm not a legal expert.
Hopefully, someoe else can give you a better answer.

Re: Which one of you....
it would be nice if our customers refrained from insulting us and calling us silly names, but then if you ever listened to some of the wonderfully abusive calls and rows i have to endure on customer service lines if we are privatised and jobs are cut dont expect me to continue to be polite

@minx, I'm sorry but if you read the rest of my posts you'd see the full picture, I didn't mean to insult or offend anyone...and I'm sure if you read my story you would be pissed aswell if you were me... p.s whenever I speak to someone in a call centre I make sure I'm very polite, always say thanks and be as friendly as possible. I work with customers and I know how much more pleasurable it is to help somebody that fully appreciates your help.

Re: Which one of you....
Its true,I used to be a phone drone and its way worse than being a postie. Although you would never pin me down when I worked in Customer at a call centre if I ever had a shouter I would help them as much as I could but that's as far as it went.Ryan2501 wrote:@minx, I'm sorry but if you read the rest of my posts you'd see the full picture, I didn't mean to insult or offend anyone...and I'm sure if you read my story you would be pissed aswell if you were me... p.s whenever I speak to someone in a call centre I make sure I'm very polite, always say thanks and be as friendly as possible. If I ever had someone who really did have a problem and yet was still polite and respectful I always used to go the extra mile. One old lady had ordered something from us once, but the in-putter had entered the wrong address but no one had spotted it till I got her phone call. So sent the order out again and added a free gift (about £5) as an apology.
Thing is she contacted us about a week later asking for me. Of course I was concerned that it had gone wrong again but apparently the first order had been delivered as addressed but they had been away for 2 weeks on holiday, they knew this woman so brought the order round to her. She wanted to return it as it was worth £30 but I just wrote it off and let her keep it, all because she had been polite.
Feel sorry for RM Customer Services though there's nothing really they can do to placate an angry customer except listen to and take the abuse.

Re: Which one of you....
The guy I spoke to was quite friendly and helpful but the bottom line from him was basically:
"We wash our hands of this incident it's your fault"
It was frustrating as I had valid points that I raised to him such as the difficulty of losing such a sizable parcel but he just responded like a robot everytime awkwardly trying to get rid of me. I gave the tracking number to numerous people but I think as it's only 1st class recorded and not Special Delivery the tracking number was pretty useless.
Someone also took details such as tracking number, delivery address, my return address and I think this was for the purpose of searching at the Lost Mail place. Unfortianately no matter how friendly and polite I was there was nothing anybody could really do. :(

Re: Which one of you....
To be honest I don't even think it's the money thats bothering me anymore as I'm more financially sound these days I think it's just the thought of:
A. The buyer on ebay totally fooled me and sitting there playing my PS3 whilst giving me a load of BS so he gets a refund
B. Someone else stole it and just kept it or sold it getting away with my property/money
I don't even have such a problem with RM either anymore I just want justice! Some kind of closure. I would much rather be told it got lost but I can never get it back than to be left in limbo like this while somebody potentially got away with it!

Re: Which one of you....
Okay I'm gonna let it go for the 2nd time now.
I don't know why I opened this up again maybe because I found a semi-involved audience. I gave myself false hope. Life goes on!
I'd like to thank each and everyone of you who replied to my thread and offered kind advice, help and accurate criticism.
I wish you all the best and hope RM treat you well.
Regards, Ryan.
