Play.com told me it was sent with Royal Mail. When I reported the item undelivered they sent me a form and told me I needed to send it back to them completed so they could make a claim against Royal Mail. I've only ever seen them use a different courier for expensive items.

I know it was Royal Mail. Stop arguing that it wasn't.

The box was malformed and faded, the tshirt smells damp and the invoice was faded and water damaged...

I wasn't arguing that it wasn't RM, i was merely pointing out that your statement "play.com have always used RM" was incorrect, they use RM along with other couriers, not just for expensive stuff.

Okay, my bad. I've never seen them deliver anything that isn't expensive through anyone but RM. My boyfriend has ordered lots of stuff from them, which has always come with RM. I have ordered lots of stuff - Again RM. His mum has used them too, AGAIN all RM. I think it may depend on the area. Around here, it seems they use Royal Mail. Royal mail screwed up my order, not any other courier.

I'll make it clear. It was ROYAL MAIL. Play.com posted my item with ROYAL MAIL. ROYAL MAIL threw my package over the fence, and did not leave any indication that it was there. So can you guys give me some advice on what happens now? I've contacted Play.com and explained what's happened, but won't get a reply until Monday.

Your complaint is against Play.com not Rm, Play.com now have a complaint against RM (because they are the customer) so Play should credit you and claim against RM....................I think I'm confusing myself now :nervous

As for why it happened..............some posties just don't understand that they have to do the job properly and will take shortcuts to try to save themselves a few minutes, it's not correct but with 150,000 employees it's difficult to get 100% of them to do the job correctly. Make sure you put in the complaint with the local DO, that's the best way to make sure it won't happen again.

I don't see how my complaint is against Play.com - they didn't throw the parcel over a fence! It's Play.com's problem now, because they will have to be re-imbursedbecause as the postie has caused the item to be unsellable. But it's not Play.com's fault. It's Royal Mail's failure to keep check on their workers. I've complained to them via email, and I will most definately give the c*nt a piece of my mind when I see him monday...

:hmmmm I give you advice and all you do is be rude to me :hmmmm I was nice but here we go..........................you seem to be a really ignorant person (the use of the word c*nt sums it up), although if I was you postie I would go out of my way to make things difficult for you, always within the rules set out to me by RM and Postcom.

I'm so tired of people coming on here for advice and then taking the attitude when they don't get the answer they want. Maybe if we brutally murdered everyone who wronged someone we deliver too then the world would be a better place (not to mention the Daily Wail).

Why you may be giving the wrong person a piece of your mind. We work 5 days out of 6 generally. We have 6 weeks annual holiday a year and people fall ill occasionally. You cannot be certain that your regular postie is the one responsible and TBH its unlikely (not impossible though). You would have to be a real idiot to upset one of your regular customers like this on your own round, and anyone with even an ounce of common sense knows you'll upset someone by throwing a package over a garden wall.

Complain to RM and then hope that the Manager is a decent Administrator and knows who was doing that duty then, if they do they should "counsel" the offending postie.

It depends on your definition of complaint.
If you mean morally and your intention is to attempt to stop it happening again then complain away.

If you mean legally and your intention is to seek compensation then DGP is right, you have no contract with Royal Mail, implied or otherwise and have not paid for a Royal Mail service.Your contract is with Play.com.
It's a common misconception even amongst Royal Mail employees that the recipient is the customer when obviously it's the sender that pays.
That's not to say that you should treat the recipient with any less respect...just the legal position.

Why don't you just write to the Daily Wail and put your complaint in there (they love to kick the working people).

Do you think that it's maybe you that's causing your problems, try asking and being nice about it and you may find things will improve instead of moaning and using foul (I personally find the word c*nt the most offensive word anybody can use) language.
