Post-Interview question

Post by mattandbenny »

Hi all

I had an interview 1 week ago. I have not heard anything since (though reading other threads this sounds normal as it seems it takes 2-3 weeks to hear a response).

The thing that worries me is the fact that on my royal mail login it still says 'interview booked'. Can anyone advise me i) if this is normal, and ii) What i should do about it (or if i should just be patient for now).

Thanks for any help & advice. Apologies if i appear impatient, this job would mean everything to me!

Yes its fairly normal for the status to be behind the actual stage you are in the process. Some have still been on the "Interview booked" when they have actually started work. :Very Happy

I am in the same boat, I had an interview a week ago today and I have heard nothing so far. Was told I would be told within the week if I am successful by phone or by email if I am not, so now every time I receive an email I am scared to open it :pray

I was going to leave it till tomorrow evening and then maybe try and find out, does anyone have any advice? Should I just leave it and be patient or would calling to ask come across as desperate and could potentially put them off.

Thanks

I had an interview almost 2 weeks ago and not heard anything, however noticed on Monday my status had changed to Attended interview. Does that mean I was unsuccessful

No I would give it another week. To be honest trying to contact the recruitment section itself is a rather turgid affair.

No, all it means is that they are behind schedule. Keep an eye on your inbox and spam folder, sometimes RM stuff gets put in there by some email providers.

The DOM from my interview told me a week as well. Was still nearly three weeks til I was offered the job.

Was 2 weeks ago today and still no news, the only change is that my application swapped to 'attended interview' the end of last week. No news is good news right?...... :pray

Assuming that you (both) get the job. I doubt you'll get uniform right away, so wear clothing that's light and durable. ie not jeans because if they get wet/soaked in the rain you'll soon know it. As others have said on other posts about this. Don't wear clothing with logo's, especially anything that can be construed as rude/abusive. You should also be given a Hi-viz vest to wear, so wear this and also ensure that you get your RM ID card asap after you start.

Wear layers for colder weather and not thick clothes as you'll soon get hot wearing it all. Get a pair of good comfy walking shoes or boots that are preferably waterproof as this will be a great help and it beats walking around in soaking wet footwear for hours.
Be prepared for rude and abusive members of the public and don't rise to any insults/abuse if they start complaining and have any issues about their mail.
Refer them to RM Customer Services and or their local delivery office, and report any problems back to your D.O. too

Others may add to this but if you look elsewhere on this forum you'll see loads of advice, especially this one.

ADVICE FOR NEW POSTIES: http://www.royalmailchat.co.uk/communit ... =1&t=27513" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

So, assuming you both aren't going for the same job, good luck. :thumbup :cool

Thank you for the advice, all sounds very helpful. I am aware it takes longer than the stated week for people to hear back but my status has not even changed yet and im curious as to the OP status has and mine has not yet we were interviewed on the same day by the sound of it. I was given before my interview the contact number for the person who interviewed me as my original interview got delayed due to weather, I am tempted to call and chase up. Would this be worth trying?

Good luck Swarrensearle,

I have just held off, did you online status take the 3 weeks to change from interview attended?
