Question about weekly pay.
Hi guys. I had my induction last week (Wednesday) I then worked for the rest of the week. My manager said the 8hrs for the induction would be part of my 24hr contract for that week. Last Friday I only got paid for my induction only not for the weeks work. This week I have been paid for a full week, when i was expecting 24hrs plus the 16hrs from last week. Now my question is does the pay work a week in hand, or do you get paid on the Friday for that weeks work? If it is a week in hand thats fine. If its get paid on the week then I am owed 16hrs pay. Hope this makes sense!

Re: Question about weekly pay.
I believe your first week's pay was 16hrs short if I've understood you correctly.
Your basic contracted hours are paid during the week you work them, so this week you would receive payment for the contracted hours you work during this week.
If you do any overtime hours beyond your contracted hours then they are paid in addition to the following week's pay.

You see this is what I thought. When I spoke to my manager today she said it was a week in hand. And that it looks like I've been over paid. But the way I understood it was what you said about getting paid on the week. So what do I do now? Is there a payroll number I could ring?

Re: Question about weekly pay.
Actually I have just read in my welcome to royal mail booklet, it says 'you will be paid one week in arrears by royal mail' when mean you get paid on the Friday for the previous week. So its all good! Thanks for your reply and help!
