Recruitment - Do They Know What They're Doing?

Post by rbz5416 »

Forgive the minor rant but a couple of months ago I applied for a delivery job at my local office. Did all the online tests & sat back awaiting news. Three days later "Due to unforeseen circumstances this vacancy has been withdrawn". OK, stuff happens so put it behind me & signed up for e-mail notification of future vacancies. Five weeks later another pops up, only part-time & a short contract but I figure at least it's a foot in the door. I then find that previous applications are only retained for a month, so I had to go through the whole process again, including repeating the tests.

Today, three weeks after completing the application I get some news. Hoping it's positive I open the e-mail to find - "Due to unforeseen circumstances this vacancy has been withdrawn".

Have I just been unlucky or am I completely wasting my time? I get the impression that this is code for "We're not interested, don't bother applying again".

No keep trying mate, its not an unusual scenario for Royal Mail, it its, shall we say, indicative of things between the perfect world of HQ and the reality of the front end.

Thanks.

Hopefully another will appear soon as I'm not sure I can face repeatedly doing the psychometric twaddle...
