Interview doc question

Post by indurain »

Hello , I have got an interview for a temporary postman with driving job in york next week.
I put in my application that my current address was the same as stated on my driving license.
I moved a couple of months ago and just didn't think when answering, this being the first job i've applied for since.
I emailed recruitment asking how much of a problem this is and got told i would likely be turned away without an interview. Since the difference between addresses is only about 10 miles could i email back and ask to change my address to match my license? Or is that a no-no?
I can't justify paying for a new licence for an interview for a job I'm not guaranteed to get, especially when I may not be in my new address for longer than a year.
Has anyone got any advice ? I can't see why it's so important, is it just administration? I would be really looking forward to the interview too!...

cheers, matt

You can't justify paying nothing ?

https://www.gov.uk/driving-licence-fees" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Changing the name or address on your driving licence
There’s no charge for this service. However, there’s a £20 fee if you’re a photocard licence holder and want to change your photo at the same time.
Certainly cheaper than a £1000 fine http://www.needasolicitor.com/Driving-Licence-Laws.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Change of name and/or address
If you change your name, address or both you must inform the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) immediately. You can update your driving licence online or send it to the DVLA to be amended. A new licence will be issued free of charge unless your photograph’s due for renewal.
Failure to notify the DVLA of any changes to your name and/or address is a criminal offence and you could be fined up to £1000.
Its important because they have to do a background check, and if you get the job there are legal implications as we are a notifiable occupation. I am afraid its not a simple Administrative process. If you are technically breaking the law by not changing your address then Royal Mail can't be seen to be condoning it and employing you.

My advice - change the licence asap in fact do it online it should only take a week that way https://www.gov.uk/apply-online-to-repl ... ng-licence" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Free.....I went on the DVLA website and it said £40!

I will get it changed (even though i'm moving again in, i think, may, hence why I haven't changed my address on my license)

Thanks a lot for your help, matt
